    Help

If nothing is eating them then it could very well be a molt. They look alot likea dead hermit body. Just try and do an inventory of your hermits sometime.

    Are Hippo Tangs pretty hardy?

Well yes and no. There are other factors too. I would get a small regal if you are going to get one BUT the yellow may not like him to much so they may not match. It's also contingent on the other fish in the tank. Both tangs get very big and while a 90 is big enough for both can become very...

    Are Hippo Tangs pretty hardy?

I think the regal tangs are more succeptable to ich than anything. Yellows and Purple tangs tend to get head and latteral line disease.

    175 gallon and tangs

I second flaming. The more different in shape and color you can get another tang the better. Also try and get one from a different sea. Fish are everywhere but it increases your chances of them getting along. Yellow tangs can be brutal once they are established.

    liverock

You can get live rock from a number of different sites. This site sells fiji for pretty cheap. You can tell live rock is still alive by its color. It should be a healthy purple, red, pink, darkbrown, green, black all mixed together. Base rock will look mostly white or a cream/grey/very light...

    liverock

Yes you can cure it in the tank. You have to let it sit for a couple of weeks. I have all fiji rock which is pretty good. It sounds like the stuff your store can order is marshall island rock which is supposedly some of the best.

Is lfs live sand really LIVE sand?

Live sand is live in the sense that it growing the same bacteria that live rock does. As far as pods and such maybe there are eggs or they went dormant. Youll see pods eventually give them time to populate. You have a better chance of getting them in live rock anyways.

    questions about minibow 2.5 setup

If you want to go filterless. I would suggest doing water changes often. Stir up the dirt in there with a turkey baster and take out about half a gallon or so. Maybe every week or biweekly. The other advantage you won't have is carbon which can help to absorb impurities if you have any...

What coral's do you suggest to start??

Something easy and variety of color mushrooms. A brain would be a step up. They are not to hard but do need to be fed every now and again. I love brains. My Second coral and he was bleached too. I didn't realize it at first and fed him every night. He's now great. I would also suggest...

    New set up

Its normal. Does it disappear if you stir up the sand or is it stringy? It looks like you need either cerith snails or nassarius snail to dig in your sand keep it stired up. Your water nutrients are also related to algae problems. Test for nitrates and phosphates. If you get snails get 4 or...

    fragging large corals?

Good question. I don't think it is. They do have "innards" and splitting one in half would stress the coral to no end i imagine. I wouldn't try it. If they survive the shock they have to survive any kind of diseases that may attack their wounds not to mention killer hermits, crabs, and...

    How Many Corals are Acceptable???

That many corals at once will throw off your calcium and kh along with your other nutrients. Best to do 2 a week and see what it does to those values. There is no limit to corals in a tank, just keep in mind they will sting eachother or release chems and such to kill other corals. Do your...

    questions about minibow 2.5 setup

If you get a shrimp, NO CORAL BANDEDS....They get huge. A blood/fire shrimp would be a very good thing in a small tank like that.

    More rock question

Well add ALOT of rock. The more the better for them. They are a hard fish to keep healthy for a long time. They will usually eat up their food source after a while. With a tank so small..... It's recommended they only be kept in a 120 or bigger. The key with one is to get it to eat other...
