My plans for my DIY sump

I started with a 20 gallon tank. I measured the ******** dimensions of the tank and cut the plexiglass accordingly. I also cut strips of plexiglass 1/2" wide and as long as the height of the baffles. I used silicone to adhere these strips to the inside of the tank. They are to help support the...

building my own sump/fuge, need help

Make the last baffle higher than your water level and with holes in it and put a large filter sponge against the hole. Bubbles will not flow through the sponge. They will get trapped and work their way to the top and not pass the baffle.

    need a wet/dry ---NJ

The brown object is actually a filter sock hanging from the sock holder. There is no live rock in the picture although I do have liverock in it now. This is an old picture. Not really sure how much I'd ask for it, maybe 45.

Move time...is this the right plan?

Get a few 5 gallon buckets. Put a trash bag in each bucket, the small kitchen bags should fit. Then place rock into bag in bucket and fill with water. Tie the bag shut so water doesnt splash around. Do the same with the fish except in a different bucket. I would start off new using sand. Keep...

    Mushroom or toadstool?

I have been told that these are Riccordia mushrooms. But from reading this forum and seeing drawings and pics, I think they are Toadstool leathers. Every mushroom I have seen kind of lays flat over some rock, these have a long stem. Could someone please identify these?

    Gluing shrooms to rock

They slimed up because you had them out of the water too long. That is also the reason that I suggested to dab the shroom on paper towel before placing on gel.

Heaters in sump: how to size, where to put???

You need 5 watts per gallon for your heater. You need 500 watts. Dont forget to account for the water in your sump or your heater will be overworked. I would suggest buying 2-250 watt heaters. If one burns out, you still have the other to keep things warm. I would also suggest buying titanium...

    Gluing shrooms to rock

Make sure you dry the rock good with a paper towel. Then place a drop of gel on the rock where you want the mushroom. Take the mushroom and dab the bottom of it on the paper towel to dry and then place it on the drop of gel. Hold it there lightly for about 10 seconds. You can check to see if the...

Or are they a clear or milky white with brown on the back and move quickly? If this is the case, then...
