    Bubble Algea outbreak and questions

Emerald crabs are supposed to take care of it. I've got about half a dozen in my tank but I've never seen them eating it. I usually have to pick out the large 'bulbs' by hand.

    Getting rid of microbubbles...

I've got a 50gal bo-tank with a QuietOne 3000 pump, 780gph. I have a ball valve inline with the pump. Regardless if I have the valve at full flow, 3/4 or 1/2 flow I've still got bubbles. For the drain line into the refugium, there is a micro catch bag on the end of that and I have the sponges...

    Moving a Sebae

My Sebae has decided to plant itself right in front of the aquarium on the glass. You can't even see the percula. Is there any way that I can gently move it or aggitate it somehow away from this location? It was in the center of the tank for several months before it moved. Sorry about the...

    Question about Yellow Polyps???

I've never fed any of my polyps or zo's directly and there are doing fine. As far as your yellows go, since it is a new rock, the hermits are most likely just cleaning it up. I put a small piece of yellows in my tank about 8 months ago and they have spread about 5 times the original size and...

    Refugium vs. BioBalls...

50 gal bo-front with the following: sailfin percula flame angel yellow watchman 3 blue chromis 6 line wrasse numerous inverts/corals I've got a 10 gallon refugium but I'm thinking about converting it to a 10 gallon bio-ball system. The refugium lights cause the water temp to go up about 3...

    live rock questioon

It all depends on how you want things since it is your tank. It may also depend on the size of the live rock. If you have large towering pieces I'd put those towards the back and place the smaller pieces towards the front, pyramid shape. You'll lose swimming space up front if you pile...

    Candy Cane coral question...

I've got a nice cluster of green candy cane and I just bought another cluster that is blue, not dull blue but a nice blue. I want to put the two pieces together, right next to each other in my tank, so they will look like they are growing from the same head. Should I avoid doing this...

    Zoo's not opening

Update: Salinity up to .026 Charcoal filter bag in place Skimmer running 24/7 There open. Some of the colonies still look dormant but the heads have not dissolved. I know of a 'Condition 1' phase where zo's shut down for some reason and stay dormant for a while. This may or may not be the...

    anemonies

Yup they all can live together. The anemone will sting whatever surrounds it. I've got a Sebae that is surrounded by live rock and it has stayed there for several months. Occasionally, it will shift a little and come in contact with my hairy greens. But, that's ok since the hg's spread like...

    Trimming xenia...toxic?

To trim the xenia would mean removing the piece of live rock that it is growing on every six weeks or so. Don't want to do that. The skimmer runs at night because I add supplements during the day and don't want the skimmer to remove the calcium, strontium, magnesium...or will the skimmer not...

Help! Tank temp 90 degress! Pics included

I've got two 3 inch fans from Radio Shack that I wired directly to the lighting ballasts of my 65Act Blues. One blows into the light housing, the other sucks the air out. They come on when the lights come one. You may wnat to give that a shot also. Incidently, the 4 inch fans are quieter so...

    Trimming xenia...toxic?

I have a colony of Xenia in my tank that I have to trim back about every 6 weeks. Does anyone know if this causes the xenia to release a toxic substance that may be the reason why my zo's won't open? But then again, I've been doing that for about a year and the zo's stopped opening about 3...

    Feeding Mushrooms

I've never fed any of the shroons in my tank, including the hairy greens that are growing like weeds. I have to thin those out every once in a while. I have noticed that when my regular fish food happens to fall into a hairy green it wraps itself up around whatever food it happens to get...

Would you recommend a carbon filter? Would that take out the supplements that I'm adding???

    Zoo's not opening

No, no carbon...It's killing me because I know zoo's are pretty hardy and tolerant. I can't figure this out. Is there any supplement that zoo's really like/need that would help them out???
