I'm not sure about the PS3 in particular, but you can have a BlueTooth PAN - where 1 laptop has an internet connection and then can "share" that connection with another laptop over BlueTooth. Or you can connect your laptop to your phone via Bluetooth and the laptop can use the HSDPA/3G/GSM...

I would just get a phone that plays mp3s - one less thing to carry around. I had a 30GB iPod video and I never had any issues with it - I now have an iPhone that works just fine as well. It ultimately comes down to what you think is reasonable pricewise and what features fit what you need/want...
