Did you test and see a big ammonia spike after the five days? I think puffers may excrete more waste than most fish. Anyone know? I thought I read that somewhere a while back. In a good cycled tank that's not overstocked that shouldn't matter anyhow.

Yeah, salt does not evaporate so you don't want to add it to replace evaporated water. Just try not to ever let your water lever get too low as salanity will increase.

Yes, you need to add water as it evaporates. Just make sure it's fresh water (RO/D) as the Salt does not evaporate out of the tank.

Hi Frogz, Did your ammonia ever spike when you had the shrimp in for five days? I think you may have needed to keep the shrimp in longer than five days for an effective cycle.

Update, It turns out I was freaked out for nothing. What looked and felt like a 1-2 inch small crack in the bottom corner turned out to be some kinda of epoxy spill shaped like a crack. When I took a razor blade to it, it rubbed off. Talk about a sigh of releif and at the same time...
