what exactly does a protien skimmer do? what happens if u dont use one? does it effect amm. nitrites nitrates? thanks

good sunday morning..on the reef

i have the 10k xm's and mine were white from the start.no yellow...but they do take about 20 hours to break in.

mine pulls the air out...seems to keep it cool in there..never tryed it the other way
