Well, it typically takes 3-4 weeks or even longer to properly cycle a tank. You should take all the livestock back to the lfs, cycle your tank then start adding the livestock back slowly.
Your lfs is giving you VERY bad advice! You can start by reading the stickies in the new hobbyist section...

Your giving advice when you have a 17" shark in a 125g?? Wow!
How long have you had your sand in the tank? I have noticed in my DT, that once the sand has been in the tank for a period of time, it no longer becomes "magnetized"to my mag float. I added 40lbs. when I upgraded to the 180g and noticed this, never had the issue with the established sand.

I use tahitian black moon sand and have noticed that at times certain particles do become magnatized fo watever reason.
NO, it is NOT metal though, what excatly it is I am not sure, but it is not metal....It will be ok in your SW tank as many people use it. If your worried about it replace with...
Mixing butterfly's can be a bit tricky, but in a 225g, there should not be any issues. wetweb has an excellent article that breaks down the good, medium, and poor butterfly fish to keep in a home auarium.

The saddle back would do just fine. The main reason most people do not have butterfly fish is typically because they can be quite difficult to acclimate to the home aquarium. Many die due to not eating and stress. Also, her are quite a few butterfly fish that are obligate coral eaters and would...

UV filters can actually do more harm than good, as they "zap" both good and bad things...I highly doubt this will fix your problem, they are not some magic device that will make all yourproblems somehow go away. My advice would be to tear your tank down and start over completely.

A yellow tang and a copperband are one of the worst combo's. The yt will most likely kill the copperband.
This could help though http://www.atlantareefclub.org/forum...ad.php?t=31003
