    Maxi Jet Mod

also, as to the noise of the Sureflow, when you use the white propeller on the MJ1200, it is silent. Plus it gives you 2100 gph rather than 1600gph. The black prop is noisy on a MJ1200 and is meant for the smaller MJ powerheads. But I feel that the sureflow is the best and it seems to be the...

    How would U??

With a 40g, Id go with 2x150w metal halide lighting. With a 65, 2x250w MH would be better. But I have 2x150w on my 65g and its plenty of light, just have to keep stuff in the top half. I would think that retrofit with good reflectors would be better than a fixture, but I use a 36" sunpod and...

They certainly are hardy fast growers. How about this (1/13/2007): To (6/23/2007): To (1/25/2008): (5/14/2008): And now (10/9/2008):

    New live rock

IMO you should do the WC now. 5-6 is very high for ammonia. Most what I see is that if ammonia goes to 1.5 or higher, do a WC. Ammonia of 1.0 will get the cycle going but wont kill any beneficial critters or life in the rocks which will help the tank in the long run. Ammonia that high (5-6)...

What does water flow look like?

Sounds like you have plenty of flow. Just dont forget that there is head loss in the CL and the return pump. Likely because of the plumbing, more headloss in the CL than the return. Waving is fine, its the direct flow that doesnt vary thats bad. If you have flow that crashes into things...

    Need more flow?

2 MJ1200s would not be enough for sps. The DIY mod is a little tricky. I find the Sureflow kit to be great, but you really need a magnet as well because the extra flow is pretty intense and suction cups can fail and result in a sand storm.

    Wanting some suggestions

you need to get some corraline growth. check your calcium and alkalinity. If they are low, start dosing with a 2-part and you might start to get some purple corraline growth which will improve the drab green color the rocks are now. Also, Id put a black background on the tank so that once you...
