    New ORAs!!

Thanks guys. Im really getting into these more colorful sps. The lemonade looks so fragile right now, Im hoping its in a place where the snails cant get to it. It's going to have to encrust a bunch before I see any real growth.

    SPS additives for color?

Definitely supposed to be a yellow/green depending on the lighting you have. Yellow for 10k white-colored tanks and green in 14k-20k blueish tanks. Sps will somestimes get a good encrusted base before starting to grow in height. It sounds like you shouldn't be dosing anything for extra color...

    SPS Help

Need a little more information... What is happening to the coral? Where are they located in the tank? what kind of flow do you have? What are your calcium and alkalinity levels at? What do you dose? Any pics?

    New ORAs!!

I got some new corals at a frag swap of our local PBMAS. Didnt want to post these in the Tyree thread because it got a little heated lol But these are my new frags, two are Tyree and not ones that you'll find others that are similar. The third is an Efflo with a pretty unique coloration...

SPS and the plugs they come on....

If the plug has a small piece that sticks down, try and break that off. With the ORA corals, I had to use a dremel to saw off the bottom portion of the plug. I usually keep the frag on the plug because I like to keep it with the encrusted part on the plug. I find that the frag will grow faster...

    Brightwell's Neo Zeo

One other thing that I am reading is gaining in popularity is trace elements. Most people dose for Calc and Alk, and some dose for Mag, but the trace elements get left out. the Brightwell products I have contain trace elements and they supposedly help with coloration. One product that I...

    SPS= watts per gallon????

That is good wattage, but without the VHO, 3x175 would be a little low for a 125g. 3x250w with VHO actinic supplement would be better. But I agree, you will be able to keep any sps anywhere if the VHO are 10k daylights. Also, look into the Iwasaki 15k 175w bulbs, as they are the highest PAR 175...

SPS growth under PC's with success

Not to throw fuel into the fire, but SPS under PCs is certinaly not recommended for best results. Water quality, food source, flow and lighting all play equal roles in growth and success of sps. Therefore, if one of the four are lacking, the sps will still survive but the ideal conditions...

    Sump/Fuge in 36"x16" double doors?

Ive got a 20g long under my 65g which I think has the same dimensions as you. You can use the 20g as a sump. I just had to put the sump tank in first. You can remove the wooden brace so you can put the sump in and then bang the brace back in.

    HQI Hailde

Ive got the 2x150w 36" sunpod and love it. But now that Im into SPS, the 2x250w would have been a better choice. But 300w still works beautifully on my tank.

    Ideal parameters for SPS

I shoot for 450 calc, 7.5-8.0 alk and 1300-1400 mag although I rarely test for it. I like my pH 7.8-8.2 and temp 77-79.
