Your description of a "pink balloon" when you got it and the pic make me think it is a rock/flower anenome. When I was in the tide pools at Laguna over Christmas there were purple ones everywhere. Beautiful. The ones above the tide line in the air were closed into the baloom shape.

Birdy is right - when it's diatoms, what you are seeing is the casings of the dead ones.

E. quadricolor aka bubble tip are the hardiest and you may be able to find a tank raised one. They have the best chance of survival but, you need a mature, stable tank with 5 or more watts vho or pc lighting.

I agree with jwtrojan. On the wrasses, fairy wrasses are beautiful but, well known jumpers. I've had a sixline for 2 years and I l love it.

It is not unusual for them to molt fairly soon after being added to a tank, usually due to new conditions and maybe some stress. They will then molt periodically as they grow. I leave the molts in as they are mostly calcium. HTH

Do other shrimp pair up with gobies or does it have to be a pistol shrimp?
