    Too Many Snails

Ok...next question. How many turbos do you have?

    Need some help, please.

I had this problem in a reef tank when it was first setup. I wanted a deeper sand bed but the tank was already established. What we did was add a cup of sand a day...thats it. By doing it this way, you don't cloud the water, you don't affect any cycling or bio-filtration, and slowly you'll get...

    brown?

The diatom will go away if your water quality is good, you're not overfeeding, and your lighting is not excessive. Puffers will eat snails. Love em.

    price range.

Manchester, you could sell that tank and get a pretty penny for it in a heartbeat on ----. If you need help doing so, let me know, I'll be happy to help. dave@jfktower.com

    Too Many Snails

Not really...no. Are they a problem for some reason? If they are, your best bet is a daily suction session with a turkey baster, and thin out their population as best you can. I'm just curious why you want to get rid of them?

    Are blennies jumpers?

    Yes, when startled especially.

    Dogface puffer

Great fish -- but not for your setup. He'll eat everything except the gramma and the urchin. Puffers love crustaceans, and you have lots of em :)

Find out why they shut them down, that makes an interesting story!

    Long spine urchin banished!

The star is not dead, in fact he's doing very well. This urchin is strange...he loves to eat marine meats. We discovered this by accident when he got a hold of a piece of krill that floated by, and devoured it. Since then, we feed him silversides every few days, and he loves them. My plan is to...

Great job, love the tank. Your purple tang is great, you're making me think about giving in and getting one finally. Thanks for sharing the photos.

    Long spine urchin banished!

Well...I finally banished our long spined urchin. He's been living in our reef tank for a while, and the only 'damage' he ever did was eat some coralline, which I tolerated, since it always grew back. But this afternoon...he had an arm of our orange linckia star in his little mouth, and that was...

Stocking my first marine tank, questions

Here's my .02. You'll be fine for a while, as you indicated, and I would definately suggest the Picasso trigger, great fish. Add him last, and get him SMALL. They grow slowly, you don't have to worry about coming to the tank on the second day and seeing a 3 foot monster in there. I see you're...

    are flouders hardy

Thats a funny question Sinner's girl, one I've asked myself a lot! I love keeping 'food' fish in my aquariums, like flounders, snappers, and tiger shrimp. Its weird in a way, but I have no problem with it. I tease my son we feed the flounder garlic, lemon and pepper to season him from the inside :)

    Question about plecos

Not sure what you mean Mr. Salty...of the fish species, or if they're brackish? I've kept plecos for years in my freshwater tanks, they're algae eating bottom fish that grow very large, and are quite beautiful. I would LOVE to hear they can be saltwater acclimated because they would be a killer...

It feels wierd being with 8 people on SWF.com

I found all of the lost posts...they came out of a new piece of live rock I'm curing...but my brown scopus tang ate them before I could repost them. Sorry!

    hey oldhermit

Not sure about the one on the right, but the crab in the lower left is a porcelain crab. Great little filter feeder that usually hides behind/under rock, or even inside empty shells. They're reef safe, and require floating particles in the water to feed. Marine snow is great for any reef tank...

What tangs do you want in your fish tank?

In my humble opinion...pick TWO tops. Color/shape difference between the two will help alot, for example, a regal (blue hippo) and a purple will do well, but a yellow and a purple probably will fight. A yellow and a powder blue should be okay also, but anytime you put more then one surgeonfish...

    Question about plecos

Someone had posted in the "lost posts" about keeping a pleco in saltwater. Anyone have any experience with that? Are they really brackish? Anyone acclimated them to full saltwater? Thanks.

    are flouders hardy

Flounders are very hardy...but your tank will be a little small for him after a few years. The zebra flounder grows to about 12", the peacock can go up to 16". They should be added to a well established tank, and NEED sand on the bottom, not coral substrate. The flounders I have eat freeze dried...
