    Spare Shells

I would just keep a few extra around. My hermits get bored and change shells a lot, but they also kill eachother a lot creating new homes for themselves and the other hermits, so that is another way to get extra shells.

    UPDATED: my 55G stock list

That's a lot of fish for a 55g. I have 4 small fish and an sfe (who hides 90% of the time and therefore doens't take up that much room) and I can tell I will only be able to have 1 more fish without overcrowding everyone, so I would choose your favorite, add slowly, and assess the room they each...

    cc star eating urchin!

Mine has left snails alone so far, but I purposely put clams from the supermarket in there for him to munch on if he can find them and open them up.

    i need help please!!!

What do you mean there aren't that many fish that small. How about firefish, royal grammas, ocellaris clownfish, sixline wrasses...to name a few.

My 55g stock list...(yay or nay?)

It's still young and so far not agressive, I've heard that they get more aggressive as they mature, but as of now he comes out when he's hungry and he stares at my fish but never goes after them. I'm a little worried because my clowns go right up to him and steal his food, but he doesn't do...

What other High School does this?

They did it at my roomate's high school, but not at mine. I think it's a good idea, it seems extreme...but so does becoming mentally retarded or dying because you couldn't ask for a ride. Once when I was at the grocery store with my mom and told me about this guy who was working there. He was...

Can it be done? a Yellow tang in a 30gal?

What do you mean by "make it". Yeah, it'd probably survive but it wouldn't be happy or comfortable. They need the length to flush their gills so I would wait until you have a bigger set up. They are still some cool fish out there with out the tang family that will fit in a 30 gallong. I recently...

My 55g stock list...(yay or nay?)

Now see, does that sound responsible in any way? I think there is something to be said about being a responsible aquarist and I don't think at tang in a 20g fits in the picture.

    Amazing Anemone!

In my biology lecture today the professor put on a video of an anenome that swims around when it is touched by a certain kind of starfish that is its main predator. Has anyone seen this, I was amazed. Unfortunately they don't have brains so it had no idea where it was swimming and it landed...

My 55g stock list...(yay or nay?)

I really like tangs, so I may do a juvenile swap with the LFS. I personally think you shouldn't buy any fish you aren't planning on keeping permanently. It's irresponsible, would you get ride of your dog when it grew out of it's puppy phase. Also, it's not the size of the tang that's important...

    i need help please!!!

Definitely stick to small fish. In my 55 g I have 2 ocellaris clowns, a sixline wrasse, a royal gramma, (and a snowflake eel which isn't very small but it doesn't move most of the day so it does just fine). Tangs shouldn't be put in a 4 foot tank and you should think about returning the angel...

    Feeding???

My snowflake eel will get sick of one type so I feed him a variety or he'll stop eating until I switch, but my other fish haven't gotten tired of the food, I think because the formula is already a mixture of seafood.

    Lots of small fish!

Sounds like a troll to me...

    Aquascaping 101?

Okay, so I'm a bit to lazy to read all the previous posts so I'll just add my own experience. I would definitely put the rocks directly on the glass as you were planning on (otherwise they'll shift and eventually end up on the bottom their own, but may topple in the process). I didn't...

    cc star eating urchin!

Well, I have a cc star and I had an urchin which died a few days later and I couldn't figure out whether it at the urchin after or before it died. I've bought another one and haven't had any problems (the urchin seems to be about as fast as the cc star). I guess I don't know what to say except...

Besides bioload, room is a large issue when adding for fish. IE They fish like their space.

    Leak checking new tank

I just filled the tank up w/fresh tap H2O and hooked up all the equipment and left it for a few days. Then drained it and filled it up w/fresh water.

    overwelmed by all this

I second this book: The Conciencious Marine Aquarist. Also, The New Marine Aquarium is good. I know how you feel, but reading a book made a big difference for me, so good luck and hang in there!
