Switching from Canister Filter to Sump/Refugium

If possible I would continue to run the cannister filter for a while while the tank adjusts to the new system. so anotherwords run both cannister and sump for a while. this might prevent a recycle.

Start of one "BIG" SPS tank

Goodwin, I am always amazed at how nice all your plumbing is...its always so professional and compact...mine is always looking like a "bad hair day". I also use a chiller, pacific coast. I switched it from the main tank to the reef tank because now that the main tank is plumbed to the...

what kind of pump for a chiller?

I use asm-g on both my tanks...the 200gallon has an asm-g 4x and the 150? 180? has an asm-g 3x. I love these skimmers....(of course the only other experience I have had with skimmers is with the berlin airlift 60...which isn't a skimmer at all I have now learned)

what kind of pump for a chiller?

some chillers have some restrictions on how large a pump to use...too much pressure (big pumps) can eventually mess up the chiller. right now I have a simple set up...a pacific coast 650? with a mag 9.5 pump in the sump running to the chiller and from the chiller running back to a different...

I have a typhoon III...I have a set up like what you are talking about...the top bucket receives the r/o water and its level is controlled by a float valve. I now have a bulkhead at the base and a ball valve spout so that I can easily fill the bucket below with r/o for mixing saltwater. I also...
