    Freshwater Tank Help!

I'll have to check on what tests he's done but i believe he said all the normal tests came back normal. The tank gets a small amount of normal sunlight, no more than my saltwater tank across the room. Temperature is at 80 degrees i believe. He has done a few water changes with no luck. Activated...

    Freshwater Tank Help!

I need some help with my brother's tank. He has a 90 gallon Frontosa Tank. For over the past week it has gotten really cloudy. The color has one from white to a neon green. His tank looks like its full of Midori (yum), although i am thinking its some sort of bacteria or algae bloom. ANyone know...

    Converting sump to Refugium

Sounds pretty close to me. For a 180 I imagine you have a ton of bio balls. I would take about a month to completely remove all the bioballs. This will insure plenty of time for the bacteria lost to rebuild themselves. In addition to adding sand you might want to add some small pieces of live...

At this time i dont have a picture but i'll try to describe as best i can. I hadnt noticed it in my tank until yesterday. I had what looked to be a mussle or hairy scallop attached to the top of the corner overflow. Now obviously the thing can move cause it isnt there anymore. I cant find it...

    DIY Canopy and Ballasts

you can go with the 48 inchers, just make the canopy longer and have braces inside to hold it against teh tank. you could also go with 46.5 inch if you would rather make it to fit right on top of the tank. i am going to do the same as you and build a hood one of these days. i plan to go with the...

    First Pictures of my 55

Very nice! I have a 55 as well and hopefully one day will be able to support some corals. I would love to take some of that Xenia off your hands but unfortunately my lowly 40watt strip bulb cannot support them. What part of KY are you in? I have family in Owensboro, was born in Lousiville. GO...

    I want a new fish......any suggestions?

How bout a purple firefish or banggai cardinal?? These are a little shy but i think would do fine in your size tank. or maybe a cleaner shrimp. you dont have much room to add stuff in a tank that small.

Pump from refugium, does it kill most pods?

i'm pretty sure the ones that try and make it up to the main tank will be fine. you might lose a few here and there but if you have the refugium contained they will reproduce fast enough to replenish the loses.

    Thinking of a Refugium.....

I would add any sand and live rock to your refugium at the same time you add it to your display tank. then they can cycle together. if you do the fuge separately you run the risk of having two separate cycles. i am having to cure my LS and rock rubble in my QT becuase i'm afraid to add it all...

It is now cycling so that i can put into my new refugium when its good to go. I happened to be taking very close look at the fern...
