    picture test

How do you guys get pictures of your whole tank. I had to shrink this down so small. I tried to make a picture of my clam fit but you cant even see the darn thing. Does it look bigger when you post it? It really depends on the software that you are using. Some software has a "zoom factor"...

    Aquacultured frags

There was a post about the same thing yesterday with the same complaint. Evidently several people have had problems with them. Some have had luck with their frags, some did not fair so well. Hope yours do well. I had thought about ordering from them in the past, but never did... I guess I...

Hunting for the Mystic Yellow Watchman......

I don't think that they are jumpers... When I had my firefish I would see it all the time. Now that they are gone, I rarely see it. I usually see it in a cave, or when it is feeding time. There was a period when I thought it was dead, I did not see it for over a month or two. Best wishes Kelly

    The Elegance Coral Project

For many years, elegance corals (Catalaphyllia jardinei) were among the easiest corals to keep in aquaria. Over the past five years, most entering the trade are doomed because of a condition for which there is no known cause or cure. The above is a quote form Eric Borneman in the article. I...

    Baby in the Fuge

One of my grandsons is the same way. I try not to work on the tank when he is around. If I am mixing water, he has stir it, and then help me pour it in the tank. If I am draining the tank, he is there too holding the hose sometimes in a buck, other times over the carpeting... the fingers are...

    xenia anyone

When shipping xenias you could try the following: Attach the small rock with the xenias to a piece of styrofoam securely. Float the stryofoam in a plastic bag so the there is no easy way for the frag to get flipped over. Fill the bag a full as possible so the xenias will always be in water even...

    soft corals

What store have you been to? There are several around the area, but as far a pricing goes, reasonable is questionable at best. Here are some that I am aware of Atlantis - 4724 Clairton Blve. Elmers - Monroeville Seahorse - Allison Park Wet Pets - Mc Murray Perrytowne Aquarium - Perry Hwy East...

How could us reefers argue with this statement?

Personally I think that a blanket statement like that is a bunch of bunk! There is much coral that never makes it to our tanks, and I think that the impact of dried coral use impacts a reef more than that which actually ends up in our personal reefs. I am not against harvesting certain corals...

    Mushrooms sick?

If the new lights do not work, try moving them further away from the lights (if you have a ledge, try putting them partially under it, I see they are already on the bottom). My blues do not care for very much light. I put them under PCs about a year ago, and the ones in the middle to the top...

    Low light corals?

Button polyps, and green star polyps and gorgonians. I have also had luck with some LPS, you could try a frogspawn. The sun coral should be OK, but I have heard that zoos like a little more light than what you have. Sponges, should also work, a small orange tree sponge would definately add...

    Fragging a Gorgonia?

Yosemite Sam, Garf had a section about fragging gorgonians. From what I remember, you just cut them where you wish, with the new piece, cut back about 1/2" or so of the flesh, and then stick the "stem" in a hole in a piece of rock and super glue it in place. You can also stuff styrofoam in the...

can any coral survive in this.

By using the word survive, sure alot can survive, but thrive is a different story. Mushrooms, button polyps, some gorgonians, (as mentioned above), green star polyps, sponges, and frogspawn. Some of the singularia will also survive. If you decide to do so, I would recommend the you use a...

    my mushrooms??

Some mushrooms seem to like lower lighting better. I have some blue ones that when I put on PC lighting they did not open nearly as big as with NO lighting. The ones that are sort of in the shade open 4 -6 times larger than those directly under the lights. How does the light compare to where...
