I am not an expert on this, but I have read that you do not clean it - just place in tank and run through your reg cycle with LR - Your tank will be cloudy for a few days! Plus some people recomend that you add a layer of Live Sand on top to seed the rest of the sand fastly. Good Luck!!

Yes, I know that they can be benefical to the reef tank, but give it some time and those babies will more than double in your tank, thus causing some problems, especially when they get bigger!! They have in mine. I must of had hundreds in there, now I am hoping that I have cut that way down.

I did get hypo salinty as a treatment for ick but th esalinity is dropped to a 1.009 and of course thats in a QT with no live rock. UMMMMM I will just keep reading and checking in once in awhile. Somebody out there has got to have this info.!! Thanks!

Thank elan, So... if I would add an Ehim wet/dry (model 2229) with ehfisubstrat for the biofilter to this tank then maybe I CAN get away with around 50lbs. of base rock for hiding places???
