Center support gone... what do i do?

My qt is only 25 gallons and is currently occupied by 50 lb of live rock that I was curing for the new tank. I haven't bought anyhting new in such a long time that I figured I could use the qt for that until I got the new tank on the go and started new acquisitions again!

Center support gone... what do i do?

Haha .... I'm not very handy at all. My construction experience and no-how is similar to the cooking experience of someone who could burn a pot of water trying to boil it!

Center support gone... what do i do?

well I already have a 125 that I'm getting setup but it's not quite ready yet. I have two overflow boxes in the tank and I'm still waiting for the plumbing kits to come before its ready for prime time. I don't really want to purchase another tank right now given my current situation - do you...

Center support gone... what do i do?

If it was, I'm sure I'm past it now anyway - the tank is over 2 years old.

Center support gone... what do i do?

Title pretty much sums it up... the center support of my 55 gallon aquarium let go with a loud band last night. I idn't even realize what it was until this evening. What do I need to do (if anyhting) about it? Is it safe like that?

    Hitchhiker & Algae ID Request

whew, lots to go through here. First the id's: 1. possible some type of feather duster. Could also conceivably be some kind of barnacle but its hard to tell. 2. look like some kind of polyps. Could conceivably be aiptasia but looks more like star polyps or very small anthelia to me. hard to...

    which skimmer to get???

I voted for the AquaC, for what its worth. I don't own one and I don't know anyone who does but I do have experience with the prizm. What a piece of crap! A make-believe invisible skimmer would do a better job than that, so the aquac gets my vote by default.

    Acanthastrea

well there are different species of acan. There's lordhowensis and echinata that I know of right off the top of my head. Echinata tends to be not so pretty and is consequently cheaper.

    Acanthastrea

If I could find one for that price I would buy it even if I was only buying it to turn around and sell it again as you would make a good profit, provided it is acan lordhowensis. Easy to take care of, requires lno particular special care, just good water conditions and moderate light!!

Something is EATING My Red Jewel Flowerpot

and, puffer32, if I'm not mistaken those were "sundial" snails. A very common predator of zoos.

Something is EATING My Red Jewel Flowerpot

yes, I concur with mud about the predation. I had exactly what he describes happen to my galaxea coral in the identical fashion. After all of the polyps were eaten, the skeleton was covered by a fibrous looking tube that was clearly the work of a burrowing invertebrate. Good luck with that, mud!

    Question about Genicanthus melanospilus

ummmmm. Genicantus melanospilus is the swallowtail angel in case anybody was confused. Sometimes also known as the black spot angel.

    Question about Genicanthus melanospilus

I have heard it said, on normally good authority, that the default --- for these fish is male. Is that right? It would seem to be at odds with most other species. Anyway, I ask that question because I have a female but would really like to have a male but I dont think I have room for another...

Need fast advice on Anemone w/ Corals in Same Tank!

all your parameters look fine to me. Xenia does transfer poorly in some cases and I agree it does look terrible. But it may bounce back, it's 50/50. The anenome loks fine and will take some time to acclimate and find his right spot. No prob with these organisms together, IMO.

    Who ate the Clove Polyp

more likely to have been the peppermint shrimp but is possible it is the hermit. The peps are pretty nocturnal so you would not have seen them doing their damaage.

anyone ever hear of an orange spotted tilefish???

I think they feed exclusively on acropora polyps. So not just difficult but expensive to keep as well.
