    High Nitrate Problem

All the same, I doubt that a nitrate level of 40 is killing your fish. There must be some other reason. What is your water source? How about your other measurements other than nitrate?

    skimmer producing no bubbles!

I know my rendering looks like crap but this is how the venturi is situated in the skimmer body (the big rectangle).

    skimmer producing no bubbles!

well it would be hard to take a pic of as it is situated between two pvc tubes within the skimmer body, but, yes, I've seen it.

    skimmer producing no bubbles!

I know that, I was only saying it to prove that the pump was working. The air tube is not clogged and is correctly placed. The venturi is inside the skimmer body.

    skimmer producing no bubbles!

it just means that the water leaves the skimmer when the pump is unplugged, hence the pump is working. I already stated that both the skimmer and pump are located in the sump. The reason why I posted here is because I have contacted the manufacturer and they didn't have any helpful suggestions...

    skimmer producing no bubbles!

just calcium and buffer and that would hardly cause that for over a month. I washed the unit prior to installing it.

    skimmer producing no bubbles!

The venturi is supposed to be inside the skimmer body. The pump is in sump and connected to the skimmer directly by a 6" long piece of flex pvc. According to kent marine, I don't need to supply the air because the venturi is in the skimmer body and supplied by an air tube that is attached to...

    skimmer producing no bubbles!

I have a Kent Nautilus ex 24" venturi skimmer and it is producing no bubbles whatsoever. It is in sump with a 6" length of flexible pvc to the pump which is a quiet one 4000. I don't know what could be wrong here. It has been setup now for over a month and still producing absolutely no...

Help needed with new plumbing setup

No bubbles whatsoever in the skimmer body.... Squidd - you talk about an "air adjustment hole" where would I find this? TurningTim- I have no idea what the overflows are rated for. They don't seem to be having any trouble keeping up. The two pumps are identical and are rated for 1000gph at...

Help needed with new plumbing setup

OK, here's the deal. I'm just getting the plumbing set up on my new 125 gallon tank and I have never been so frustrated in my life.... I have two overflow chambers with those standard All-Glass overflow piping kits. One is running a closed loop so it overflows into a 1 1/4" pipe which is...

Center support gone... what do i do?

Well thanks for everyone's advice. I emptied the tank today and built a canopy for my new 125, moved all my lights and filled the tank to just below the overflow teeth. I'm going to use in-tank powerheads for now until I get my overflow plumbing worked out. That shouldn't be long. It looks...

Center support gone... what do i do?

yeah, and thanks for the swift replies, it's going to be a long night. Well, I guess it would be even longer if I was looking at draining and moving a tank at this point.

Center support gone... what do i do?

well the loud bang that was most definitely the center brace breaking happened last night at around 9 PM and so far I'm OK so I'll probably be OK until tomorrow but it's going to be a pretty anxious night of little to no sleep I would guess.

Center support gone... what do i do?

I was going to wait until the morning to do something since it's now 10 PM where I live and on Sunday night, let's just say my options for getting anything else are limited at best. I guess nobody could tell me whether it's safe to wait another 12 hours or so, can they?

Center support gone... what do i do?

That's an interesting question: wouldn't enough pressure to snap the support be enough to bend the tank? Why hasn't it broken yet? It shows no sign of "bending" or warping. Am I worrying unnecessarily?
