    OT: Hey DVSkin

No problem for keeping your friend in our thoughts. I can't imagine how scary it must be knowing that he has a tumor that they can't operate on right now. At least he's out of the hospital. That's usually a good sign. I'll pass on the info. and we'll keep him in our thoughts & prayers. BTW -...

100 gallon tank question concerning weight.

Here's my suggestion (since I'm no structural engeneer) - Get about 10 - 12 people your size and all stand in the same place you're putting the tank. If there's any damage, then the tank will be too heavy. Sound good?

    Acclimation

What types of inverts are you adding?? I've never had anything do any serious damage. There's always a risk for an uncomfortable pinch, but nothing serious. Keep in perspective that 1) your guys have just been bounced all over 2) you're putting them into something they've never been before 3)...

pufferfan-> And make sure you don't spill the bagged water into your tank. And I don't use a net. I usually go very slowly and carefully and cradle anything new with my bare hand. I (personally) figure they should get used to my hands since they're in the tank so much anyway. A net can catch...

    OT: Hey DVSkin

How did your friend ever make out? I think the last post had him going into surgery. Did everything turn out OK? My families thoughts and prayers have been with him, and everyone at father's day dinner was asking: "Hey how's that guy whose friend is on that saltwater place and helped during...

    Acclimation

I usually use a shot glass and add one shot glass of water every five minutes. Once there is twice as much water in the bag, dump half the water. Then do the whole process again. Once thats done, put your new pet into the tank. Yes, do it in the bag you get them in, make sure to float the bag...

Outraged about Early Show "Finding Nemo"

Can anyone tell me excatly what day this aired on and approximately what time. I work in an advertising department, and we tape EVERYTHING! If I can find the tape on this I'll try getting the buyers to yank all our advertisements on CBS for a week or so. That could get there attention a little.:D

Want to go topless without popping headlights

slowest is fastest- I have 175s. I can't raise the lights. The agreement with the wife is that the tank needs to be self contained and good looking. I have the retro kit installed in an AGA modern series canopy. Not a lotta room, so I have to deal otherwise. I'll try the hand trick and see...

Want to go topless without popping headlights

cincyreefer- envision an upside down "U" set lengthwise under the halide bulbs. That's how I plan on mounting it. so the lights won't melt the acrylic - what about the glue? How should I join my pieces of acrylic/pexi-glass to each other? thanx

One more thing, I just realized this should probably be in Equip. DIY. I don't know if I can move it, so if a mod wants to move it feel free. Thanx again;)

Want to go topless without popping headlights

OK, that may have been a dirty subject but- Currently I have glass versa-tops on my reef tank. After reading a post on this subject I'm thinking about altering my setup. Here's my problem... My MH bulbs are close enough to the tank that I'm worried about water splashing and popping the bulbs...

    B-Ionic users opinions please.....

I don't dose my B-ionic daily. Only when my calcium gets low. Is this wrong??? I was worried I would add too much calc. and cause a precipitation. Should I start dosing daily?

    light

You're suggested lighting is exactly what I have in my 75 tank. It should work fine for you. I see that some people are suggesting 250 watt halides for sps and clams, but I personally feel/hope 175 will be enough. One warning the tank temp does go up. Given that I have tops on the tank, and...

    Live Rock?????

easy question - zero pounds!:D :D See I know SOMETHING about salt tanks! Sorry, it depends on what you're using the tank for. General rule for good filtration is 1 - 1.5 lbs. per gallon. It all depends on type of rock, density, and type of tank. Give more info. and I can give more advice...
