    WATER CHANGE on 10g

Do you know if you have even really started a cycle?? Have your water tested. You're cycle has begun when you get an ammonia spike (otherwise ammonia should always be 0) when its over, your Ammonia and Nitrites will be at 0 and your Nitrates should be relatively low, no higher than 15ppm if at...

Cheap nanocube overflow- not my idea!

Not meaning to put a damper on everyones fun, but did I actually read that you made that out of aluminum and then you put it in your tank???? Of course it changed color, its oxidizing (if it were steel it would be rust). It's alway a strong recommendation to not use anything metal (including...

    Help with 20 Gallon nano

If you're wanting to go with lots of coral in a 20 gallon I would say you should probably stop at those two fish if not take one out. I would recommend a protein skimmer to keep the water chemistry a little more stabile than with just rock and sand. It shouldn't hurt the Gramma to be...

    System overload

Not right now they don't. They just started up a few weeks ago, their shop is just big enough to park my truck in, lol. But like I said they can get anything you want, which is good that they don't necessarily have it in stock, prevents impulse buying. This Thursday night between 7 and 9...

    System overload

No it's at 34th and Coulter right next to Santa Fe restaraunt. It's not big by any means, but their prices will make you go in to shock compared to FP's and they can get you anything you want. Most of the employees there are the good ones that USED to work at FP's.

    System overload

By two stores are you talking about Exotic Aquatics also??? Or is there one I havent been able to find? I'm right on the South tip of town (a few blocks from FP's) and I will gladly drive from here to the new one instead of going to fish pros.

    Frogspawn Info!

I have to frag mine every 3 or 4 months. I usually take two pairs of pliers, I grab each brach toward the base of the split and twist. It feels like you're breaking a bone, and it'll splinter a little. Some may not agree with this method, but I went from having one FS frag a year ago and now...

    Scarlit hermit laying eggs?

I've asked a question about this before, I was informed that even if the eggs make it, the babies never will. Too tempting to our fish friends I guesss.

    2" Sand Beds

Journey man pretty much nailed the theory on the head. However you must understand that the sand bed cannot "make nitrates worse". It has to do with the care you provide to your maintenance. DSB's are great, though I have never had a problem with my 2.5" sand bed. My Nitrates are usually...

    sponge in tank???

Agreed, if its dried up it's already dead. Once a sponge has been exposed to air it's pretty much gone.

    White chalky base rock

I would think about boiling it after you rinse it. Any surface, including rocks, will take on coraline algae over time. It's ok to put stark white rock in the tank, just make sure you clean them off good, which should be the process for any base rock whether it has chalky white stuff on it or...

    brand new to this

I'd be willing to help out a new additon to the SW family. I'm cprdnick on AOL and Yahoo messengers if ya ever catch me on. As far as what you can re-use, it depends on what you are talking about. You need some form of filtration and depending on your application, different lighting. What kind...
