    Looking for ideas here

The way to lower your salinity is to test your change water before adding it to your tank. It is the easiest thing to do. You control the salinity by how much salt you add to your change water I use a half cup of salt for every gallon of fresh RO/DI water. 5 gallons of water for a water change...

    Flaking on back of tank

I'd scrape it off if it is unsightly and just siphon it out with your next water change.

    larger tank, same lighting?

If your length and depth are going to be the same then you tank is going to be something crazy like 36" wide. A 13" wide fixture is going to leave too much area unlighted. IMO Also you will be reduced to about 2 watts per gallon. You may need another nova extreme pro. MH???

    Flaking on back of tank

People are not scraping the back of their tanks because they want the coraline algae to grow on it. If you are not growing coraline algae (purple/pink) on the back of your tank then scrape it off as you do to the front and sides. Now why do you have green algae on the back of your tank? Are you...

Doug, You know what you want to do. But if you want to attack this job do it from a position of strength. Forget about free membership. Tell him to ditch the morons maintaining the tank and you will take over for the same fee but with much better results. Explain to him what it is going to cost...

adding fish and have a quick question

I strongly disagree with the 2nd post. These fish should be quarantined individually (except for the 2 false percs). Do you have a QT tank setup? You have two different types of clowns. They might not get along. The mandarin, what do you plan on feeding him? Not an easy fish to feed. Do you have...

New here (BEWARE OF THIS STORE)

Good luck getting your nitrate down to zero. If you have a patent on that please post it here. With most reefers that is the biggest problem. I can't seem to get mine below 20. I never heard of a sulfur de-nitrater. Perhaps you can share some info
