    keeping polyps in aggressive tank?

I have a lion tank with colt coral, polyps and a few anenomes and have no problems whatsoever. With that said, I wouldn't introduce a wrasse without realizing the polyps and corals would become a quick snack. It really depends on the type of aggressive fish you want. Be careful and thoroughly...

    Lions and reef tanks?

Try to get him to eat ghost shrimp. Anything, but FW fish. The fat content is too high for a lion's liver to metabolize. There are a ton of threads on how to wean a lion to frozen food. Do a search and check them out.

    Lions and reef tanks?

I agree with nicky. I have colt coral and tons of little snails and crabs and my lions don't bother them. Did eat a bicolored pseudochromis that was hiding in a piece of live rock, though. Wouldn't worry about inverts, but be cautious of little fish that will fit in the lions mouth.

    HELP!!-Lionfish with jaw problem

I have a 6 inch V. lion (named Wayne) who appears to have a collapsed upper jaw. The pictures show the upper jaw resting on the lower, but the upper appears to not be attached to the head normally. Note the white area above the upper law and below the eyes. It appears to be connective tissue...

    Lion Fish Wont Eat

I agree. I weaned mine from live ghost shrimp to frozen silversides and krill. Took me about 4 weeks to wean, but some do it as quick as a week, some take longer.

    Lion Fish Wont Eat

Try feeding ghost shrimp to your lion. I have 2 volitans and they need to be weaned over to dead stuff. Start with ghost shrimp to stimulate its' appetite and to make sure it is healthy and eating. Do a thread search and you will find tons of great advise on feeding lions. Don't worry about...

    lion fish stings

Also, I have 2 volitans in a 150 with about 200 snails and hermits. The lions don't bother them a bit and thy do a great job at eating the bits of krill and silversides that the lions don't want. (The hermits, that is!!)

    Just got my Lion today

I wouldn't worry. Some lions just sit on the bottom, especially when first introduced. Check your water parameters and make sure the lion is breathing at a regular rate. try throwing in a few ghost shrimp to make sure its' appetite is ok.

    lion fish stings

just a side note. lion stings are not fatal to humans, unless one is highly allergic (anaphylaxis) to bee stings or other venoms. Hospital treatment will consist of supportive care. ie. oxygen, pressor drugs(to keep blood pressure stable) until patient is ready to go home. Hot water will...

    lion fish stings

Just remember that lions are not aggressive fish. Predatory, but not aggressive. If you get stung, it was a defensive action on the lion's part. Just don't corner the fish and stay out of its' way and you'll be fine.

    two lion fish together?

I agree with Jon. It took me a few weeks to wean the new lion to frozen, but I just fed the established lion ghost shrimp too. I have a 150 with 2 V. lions. (Lola and Wayne). Lola is about 8 inches, while Wayne is half the size. They get along great and I'm actually considering adding a...

Top Filtration For A 150 Gallon

I've got a 150 extra high V. lion tank with 2 fluval 304's and 4 Zoomed 228 powersweep heads and everything is running great. I don't plan on a huge bioload in my tank, and that allows me to get away with less equipment. Good luck

new 125, how many fish can i have?..also ..can i have an eel or Sting ray.

eels will be fine in a 125. Not sure about rays. Maybe a small one and you'll have to have a fine sandy bottom with a large open area for the ray to bury itself.

    Dwarf Lion question

Sorry, man!!! 10 gallons is way too small, even for a slow moving dwarf. They create way too much waste. I wouldn't go anything less than 30 gallons for a single dwarf lion and nothing else. Keep the 10 gallon as a nano if you like, but no aggressive fish will survive in a tank that small...
