    'fuge suggestions

I tried to drill a 10gal wal-mart tank. Bought a glass hole saw. Should have used a hammer. After I swept the floor, I siliconed a peice of acrylic as the replacement end panel with a hole cut toaccept rigid piping for the drain. It worked swell. Prior to that I had arubbermaid, but...

    diy yourself MH lighting

they are parallel to the front of the glass, but I dont think that it will make much difference. The portion of the bulb that emits the light looks like a ravioli and is square-ish. I don't see much benefit to a third bulb, The " shadow " is actually from the stuff I have on the center...

yeah, I only have 2 bulbs, If I had three, I would have one over the center support and it wouldn't do much good other than heat up the tank. But you sure can see the shadow toward the center, cantcha?

the bulbs that I use for growing pot are...oh I forget. 10000k are supposed to be pure white. the lowere the k rating, the greener it will appear, higher will tend toward the blue end of the spectrum. I am very happy with 10000k, just my preference. Some folks like the 20000k lights. I...

sorry, I have the 71a-3802 which is a merc vapor ballast and will not run normal metal halides ( so I am told, I won't be experimenting a t$100 a pop)

Get the m-58 ballast and forget the Iwasaki's. The color is not what you want, I'll post a picture her ein a few minutes of the saki and a 10000k next to it. with the m-58 you can run any metal halide 250 watt, with the h-37 (the graybar 71-a57xxx) it is saki's or XM only.

    Cigarette Smoke??

I see. You could always put some crabs and snalils and such in there. Probably mushrooms would do ok too. Just to give it a little life. Oh...this one is for beaslbob...plants!:D Seriously, I would get some macros cooking in there while you have no fish eating them up, the stress of the move...

    Cigarette Smoke??

Don't stress over it. Why don't you have any fish in your tank yet?

    Cigarette Smoke??

Yeah, that sounds like it is not the source. Just a shot in the dark. Fish will be ok at that level and snails, crabs should be too You could always do a 100% water change and lower it:D
