Are you sure its the tank, and not the water, that is "discolored"?

Almost any trigger (and many puffers) will go after the Lion; its fins are irresistible chew toys and the lion is defenseless. Clown Triggers and Volitans are often mentioned together; but, IMO & IME, it is a very bad idea. If the Clown Trigger doesn't kill the Lion first, the other Triggers...

Basically, IMO, a good list. I'd skip any and all damsels--they are horrible little monsters. Also, two hogfish and a yellow wrasse are probably going to be trouble. Hogfish are a species of wrasse and generally don't like their own kind.

If your profile is current, your tank (55) isn't nearly big enough to keep the tusk long-term and doubtful for the trigger. Both of these fish get big and cramped quarters=stress=aggression.

Healthy maroons will eat about anything. Are there water problems? Other fish eating? If both maroons have stopped feeding? How long? Its possible they are eating a lot of pods, but it sounds like something else.
