    Ribbon eel in a reef?

yes they change colors in captivity, if they live long enough. the yellow becomes blue. you can not keep them in a "normal" open top tank, as they WILL jump to freedom. they also need lots of protected closed caves/ tunnels. you most likely can achieve that with a small network of PVC...

Movies that have made you cry?

"Click" hit me about as hard as a greyhound. i saw it a few months after my father passed and was not expecting that movie to be anything like it was. total blindside.

    Torch, frogspawn, or hammer?

you can make a little soup of some of that stuff and use a turkey baster to blast it into the coral. those heads are sticky and will catch even big things. start with the mysis though, that is a good meaty nutritious food. i make my own food that i feed with a turkey baster. you can find...

    Saltn00b's Multi-Phase Upgrade Diary!

The tank has officially been moved to my new house! an all day affair, and so far everything is happy and alive. i have pretty much all of my livestock sitting in 2 clean 30g QT tanks (w/ no lights), while the 150 DT is running with just sand and rock trying to let her settle down. about 30...

some questions for a 125gal sps tank i am starting.

seems like you have the start of a nice SPS set up. i dont know about a refugee , but a refugium will do your tank wonders, the bigger the better. go as big as you can handle. you need to think about FLOW in terms of GPH's. what will you do for it? SPS demand the most flow of any other type...

    Torch, frogspawn, or hammer?

nice, you have two heads starting to branch off from the bottom. looks like you went with a variation of the metallic green hammer. that is actually a really nice green on that you found, mine is more of a mint green. these corals are super hardy as long they dont fall into the sand for too...

Do I have too much live rock? - Pic attached

well you dont want wobbly, all it takes is a heavy hermit or crab to move something from the bottom and the rock will go tumbling. this could be disastrous. i also notice that although your rock is stacked high, if you are going reef, you may find you will have less places to place corals. i...

what kind shroom is this? rare?

clownfish, my camera cannot take close pics, the "macro" setting does nothing. for me to get close ups i set the camera (on a tripod, makes life MUCH easier) about 6 feet away from the tank and use the optical / digital zoom. it might be a little grainy depending on the camera, but at least...

    Ribbon eel in a reef?

somebody on here tried keeping them about a year or two ago. i dont know if they had success or not. blue ribbons have terrible success rate because of lack of adequate 'housing'. the person tried to keep them by placing long PVC pipes in the sand bed with 2-3 outlets.

    Large Angel in reef tank?

agreed lion. IME, it was worth doing just for the experience, and the hopes that it could have worked. after my experience i noticed that these angels will often go for only certain types of corals case after case. usually zoas and shrooms. and only certain kinds. i think if i had an SPS...

    Look What I Found . . .

hmm firebird nostalgia thread eh? well my first car was a '95 firebird formula SS. 6 speed, LT1 corvette engine, skip shift eliminator, half sized cat coverter, and a flowmaster cat-back system. probably about 325 horseys and haulled arse! of course i wrecked it, balding back tires skidded me...
