    live rock

The cyano is probably caused from high organics in the water, from the die off with the curing live rock. I Would recommend water changes. Is the lr done curing. What are ammo and trites. New tanks commonly get cyano and with water changes, good current to affected areas, and maybe a phosphate...

Does Cpraline need high output lighting to grow?

Corraline algae does not need high intensity light to grow. It does need light though. I have it growing like crazy in my refugium with 45watts of NO flourescents. Don't expect it to grow too much while cycling the taank. It sometimes takes awhile to start spreading.

    Ideal reef chemistry

With regular water changes, that is really all you need to test for, IMO. If you are adding elements to your tank(iodine/iodide,mg,strontium,etc.) it might be a good idea to test for them, but with regular water changes I really don't see a need. JMO

    glass top with halides

I don't use glass covers on my 150 and I lose about a gallon and a half a day. I do have a canopy, but I always open the front a little too help cooling. It was too much a pain to be constantly cleaning the tops. My mh's are about 8 inches above the water and they really don't get...

    Colt frag question

I have fragged my colt a couple times by sticking a toothpick thru the bottom of the stem of the frag and then rubber banding the toothpick to a piece of LR. It stands the frag up straight. After a couple weeks I pull the toothpick out and remove the rubber band and it has grown into the LR. I...

Nitrates remain elevated, can you help ?

Jayster, I think you feed a little on the heavy side. Once a day feeding is plenty IMO. I would also suggest running the skimmer 24/7. Helps remove waste which could eventually turn into trates.

    Free live rock?

From what I have read, it is illegal and carries a hefty fine if you get caught. Don't take the chance, buying LR is a lot cheaaper then the fine.

l/r just brought home" please advise ME"

There are different opinions on whether you should have light, but I would use light. If there is any life that needs the light, it will die without it. I would worry about the algae later. Algae will be kepy in control by water quality and a clean up crew when you get to that point Don't wash...

    What happened to Devils Hand

No, I don't think it is shedding. It looks really bad. I have seen it shed before, and it is not like that. I have had it for 8mos. I have 2-250mh's, 2-96watt 10k bulbs, and 2-96watt actinics. I replaced the mh bbulbs a month ago, and the pc bulbs are about 5 months old

    Alge Problem

What is your phosphate reading. Whenever I get algae that the clean-up crew can't keep up with, I run a phosphate sponge. Seems to do good for me. What do you have for a clean-up crew. I'd recommend some hermits and snails. I have Zebra and blue-leg hermits, astrea snails, and a couple...

    Found my eel

I have a snowflake that I have had to retrieve from the bottom of the overflows twice now. Good thing there is plenty of water in them. I have read that they are pretty good at finding small openings in the top, so they can go carpet diving. Sorry to hear he found an opening in your tank.

    What happened to Devils Hand

I am looking for ideas why my Devils Hand soft coral is dead , or near dead. Here's the story, 3 days ago it was doing great. Yesterday about 1/4 of it looked like it was rotting and all closed up. Today it is all faded out, wilted over, and looks like it is rotting. The water parameters are 0...

Green carpet for trade in WI

I am looking to trade a 12 in. green carpet anemone for a coral. I will not ship and live in central WI. It is a healthy anemone that has an appetite for anything it can get(crabs, snails, fish, etc). Would prefer hard coral. If you live in WI and looking to get rid of a frag, email me at...
