what Kalkwasser mix do you use ?

Walmart sells "Ball's Pickling Lime". A number of people use this product. I mix about 2 tablespoon in R/O water in a gallon milk carton, use airline tubing pinched off with a clothes pin, so it drips one drop per second. Don't stick the line all the way to the bottom, only siphon the clear...

    live rock

To cure live rock, you need plenty of circulation, lighting is optional (i'd recommend it though as some life on the rock may need it), and a large water change at the end of the cycle. A hang on filter would help clean out the floating debris , but the filter pad needs to be cleaned daily. A...

    Must move anemone - How?

You could do something to get him to move on his own. I have LTA that decided to cram himself towards the back of the tank and open up towards the rear. I couldn't see him well at all. I changed the powerhead so it blew towards him(not directly on him) and blocked some of the light. He didn't...

    Carnage!

I have 5 zebra hermits, and to be honest, they are quite peaceful, and I have more trouble with the bluelegs picking on the snails. The bluelegs only pick occcasionally, on the snails, but I have never caught the zebras. Not to say they don't, maybe they are sneakier then the bluelegs.:)

I guess I do have pods

I didn't think I had a over abundance of pods in my tank, but yesterday, I forgot to turn the power heads back on after feeding and when I went for my nightly flashlight check an hour later, there were bugs up the kazoo in the water column. My bangaii was following my flashlight beam around...

    Me and my tank, pic

Looks good, looks like you have good corralline growth. I would have to agree with getting a background. I had to chuckle at the flashlight on top of the tank. A required tool for reef keeping. LOL!

    Help General tank set up

You have to keep in mind, that a good rule of thumb, is one inch of adult fish per 5 gallons of water. That would give you about 6 inches of fish(adult size) for a 30 gallon tank. This rule is not carved in granite, it depends somewhat on the kind of fish you get. IMO the moorish idol and the...

    Help worms??

those orange colored catepillar worms are more then likely small bristle worms. They are a good thing because they are eating detritus and left over food. They help clean the lr and substrate.

I t should say on the bulbs. How many bulbs are in the fixture? If I had to make a guess, it is a 110 watt fixture with 2 55watt bulbs. They are 48 inches long.

    MH Lights & Heat

IMO mh's are the best also. If you supply plenty of ventilation with cooling fans, you shouldn't have a problem, unless you live in a warm climate. I don't run a chiller, and on the warm summer days, I fired up the window A/C and had fans blowing on the tank. With air blowing across the water...

    Dragon Goby

I did a search and found a brackish water fish and a saltwater fish. Here is a site about the saltwater version. They sound like they are reef safe. http://home.freeuk.net/dawsons/aquar...iftergobie.htm

    Yellow tang turning white

I don't have experience with yellow tangs, but I have heard that when they are unhealthy or stressed, their color will fade. What are the water conditions, tank size, and how many fish are in the tank?
