i only have softies.

i have a 8 foot tank with glass lids... my lights sit on top of them. should i take the back sides of the lids off so the light is stronger on my corals? they are only pcs

my question is.. do i have to a buy a REEF metal halide? like a fish store type? some one is selling a metal halide for growing plants on craigs list.. would this work for clams and coral?

ah. i really want a clam. ive had one in my biocube (when i was a noob) and it was a big mistake. i bought a 10+ inch clam for 100 and it died after like 1 or 2 months. i felt horrible. at my other LFS they have two brownish clams under t5 lights

my lfs has a150 gallon with like 4 strips of light on it. they are pcs i think. and they have a blue clam in there thats been there along time on the rocks. but their tanks for clams have metal halides

oh i see.. i was thinking i could maybe jam pack one side of the tank with lights cuz my lfs has a bunch of used lights. just no metal halides :(

it would be 455 watts of power compact and 78 watts of t5 lights. the clams would be about 4 inches from the top of the tank

i might be adding 3 more 65Watt pcs and two 39 t5s on one side of the tank. would i be able to put some clams at the top of the tanks with this lighting?
