    Crab ID

It looks kind of like a common acropora crab. Did you find him in the branches of an SPS coral? If so, put him back! Acro crabs are harmless and live in harmony with their associated coral. They will die if separated from it.

I should eat breakfast more often, but most of the time it's just a good cup of coffee.

    Lighting questions

Mine are on from 11 to 9 because that allows me to see the tank for several hours after I get home from work during the week. Set yours for a time frame that works best for you... the length of time the lights are on is more important that the time of day that they turn on and off. Good luck!

    Lighting questions

Every timer is a little different. The ones I use have little pegs that slip into slots at the time of day you want to have the lights turn on or off. My lights come on at 11 am and go off at 9 pm.

    I Just Want To Say...

Ditto to that sentiment. The variety that you can find is just amazing. My LFS has some zoanthid frags that I am just drooling over.

    Pleasant Copepod Discovery

My nano is in the last stages of it's cycle and I've started seeing the pods scurrying all over the place. My husband laughed at me when he found me sitting with my nose almost touching the glass watching them.

    Flame Scallops

No matter where I placed my flame scallop in my old 175, it would always move itself somewhere else, usually where I couldn't see it. They are kind of like anemones that way... their ideal spot may not be your ideal spot. This can make them difficult to care for since they need to be target...

    Lighting questions

Consider getting a timer that will automatically turn your lights on and off. Keeping them on too long can lead to nuisance algae growth. I keep mine on for 10 hours a day.

    Curious blue bugs

Any chance of getting a better pic of them? I know it's hard with something that small, but it's impossible to make out any detail on the critters in your current pic.

    Carpenter's Flasher Wrasse

I had one of these little guys back when I had my 175 gallon and I loved him. Now I'm doing my research for stocking my 14 gallon nano and I thought of him again because I remembered that they stayed small. However, even though they only get 3" maximum, I keep seeing that they need 30-55...
