yah i have the same question. i have a UV and a skimmer and plan to run them both. i have thought of a solution though and it is to run the UV sterilizer only 12 hours a day instead of all day. or maybe every other day. something like that.

my skimer is practically touching my return pump due to space issues in the sump but it is working fine and never wasnt.

well especially if you are creating your own sump i highly reccommend a submersible skimmer. With externals most of the time you would hang it on your display tank (you could hang it on the edge of your sump ) but it also requires an aristone which requires replacement every so often. well since ive only been an aquarist for a year i have bever heard of a recurculating skimmer but i do have a skimmer by current and have absolutely no problems with it and find that it works very well.
