    Looking for peoples opinions

except for having the fish in there to cycle your tank, it seems like your parameters may be headed in the right direction. Your nitrates are high and your ammonia should be 0 to be good. Damsels are tough little guys and may live through it, but I regreted making damsels my first fish. Tough...

    icky fish

First put this thread in the disease forum where Terry or Beth will find it quicker. Give info on your setup and water parameters. I will bet that hypo salinity will be the recommendation. Do a search on ich and a zillion posts will come up for you to take info from.

    A sea star sin!!!

While on vacation in Westerly R.I. last weekend, I brought the rugrats into a beach shop for their usual vacation souvineer when I spotted a basket full of blue, purple and orange linkia stars dried up and dead(of course)!!! There had to be 40-50 of them. Kinda made me sick. There was also...

    2 Questions

What salt mix are you using. If Reef Crystals or similar, then you should be OK. Instant Ocean will definitely drop your Ca and Alk in that small of a system IMO. Try a Bak-Pak 2r for a skimmer.

Are these hydroids or something else?

Definitely not yellow polyps. These hydroids have thin stalks and only the little "pom-pom" top contracts when touched. They look kinda like little brown palm trees. They also have a connecting root-like structure. Do a search on hydroids and you will find a post where I asked for an ID on the...

Are these hydroids or something else?

Yes they are hydroids. I have a patch of them in my tank that I can't seem to kill. They haven't done any damage so far. They are actually touching my fox coral without any sign of damage. I read somewhere that you can kill them by blocking them from light. Not sure if it works, haven't has time...

    Corals Stinging each other

My torch coral and my pearl bubble started stinging each other and now the bubble looks like it is receding. I put them near each other and watched them. It seemed like they were far enough away, but one day I noticed the bubble coral's stinger streched out and attached to the torch. The...

    clown goby

I have a clown goby with a big sally lightfoot for about 2 months now and he is doing fine. The sally is about 3"-4" wide from toe to toe(I know they don't have toes! ) I feed him once a day with the other fish and he eats like a champ.

    Cc??

I second what ackermsb said in the previous post. Take it out now and put in sand or live sand. Doesn't have to be DSB, but some prefer it. CC is a pain in the a$$!! I took it out of my first tank and the tank looked better than ever and was happier than ever afterward.
