    Wet Dry or Refugium

I am looking at purchasing either a wet dry or a refugium. Both are rated at 150 gal and I have a 120. I will also have one canister and full of live rock. Currently I have 2 canisters and 2 hang ons, live rock is stocked full. But I am going to be going reef soon. Now, both the refuge and...

hawaiian black triggers in a reef?

Black Hawaiian and crosshatch are both pretty rare. SWF does have the black on there list but rarely has in stock. Crosshatch, if ever found, is pretty expensive. That is why the blue throat is so popular. Common and inexpensive.

    Another Stocking Question

IMO a 4ft tank is too short for an angel of the Koran size. The annularis or blue ring is a few inches smaller so if you really wanted a large angel that might be the better way to go. They are still a very beautiful fish.

    zebra eel

Is the eel still avaliable, I live in Eastern Iowa, don't know where Quincy is though. What kind of timetable are you looking at. If it is immediately I wouldn't be able to do it. I got a 240 that I have used, but took it down, I would still need to cycle new water and live rock.

    Such a hard decision

It might be pushing it to fit a queen or emperor in that size tank. Although the annularis, aka blue ring, might work for you. It is on the smaller size of the large angels but still just as beautiful. Just make sure you do not to have another large constant swimming fish in there with it...

    Such a hard decision

Large angels are beautiful to watch, but I think your tank would be pushing it for a queen or a emperor. The annularis, aka blue ring, is on the smaller size of the large angels and it could be possible for that angel to go into a 175. I would make sure not to have any other large swimming...

How is this line up for 240

There must be some miscommunication on my part, each filter is 3 tank turns per hour, I have 4 of them so a total of 12 tank turns per hour. I already said there is plenty of filtration on this tank. Now does anyone have actual experience with a undulated or clown terrorizing a large fish like...

How is this line up for 240

It would be really nice if swf would put info like that with the fish descriptions. Anyways, 2 websites and an species book say min of 125gal on one web site, 140gal on another, and 180gal in my book. Should I be worried in a 240?

    Messy

A single dwarf angel will be fine in your tank if you got plenty of rock to swim in and out of.

    Queen Angel In A 240gal?

The large angels are constant swimmers, so it isn't necessarily the depth of the tank but the length. A eight foot tank will give any angel plenty of space to swim. I have a grey in a 240 myself. It is very beautiful to watch him swimming in such a long tank.

    My new 55 Aggressive

The volitan does get up to 15", but they are not a constant swimmer, like a tang or angel, so they don't need a larger tank. I think the 75 is plenty big for what you have. Also your humu is one of the smaller triggers. Hopefully the size of the volitan will deter the trigger. Keep him fed...

How is this line up for 240

Tesselata eels can be kept with fish, as long as they do not fit in their mouth. Haven't you guys ever heard that before. Is the mouth of a Tess going to grow to 14". And by the way, multiple sites and books say a grey requires min of 125-180 gal tank, for a fish that grows up to 18" in an...

    Cerith Snail ...

I had cerith and turbo snails reproducing like mad. I bought maybe a total of 35-45 cerith snails, then I have babies all over. They stuck around for quite some time, growing and shells getting darker, but a problem with ick killed them all when I lowered salinity.

How is this line up for 240

First, a 240 gal is plenty big for a large angel, and if the fish is large enough the eel will not eat it. They are already together and living happily, I am just posting a thread to what would be the best trigger. Yes I do have live rock and pvc piping that the eel loves. There is plenty of...

How is this line up for 240

It is advertised as a Eheim 2028 knockoff, same size but with more power in the pump. I have 3 on my reef, these babies work very well. I have had other filters, a smaller but actual eheim, and a Fluval, not to mention other hang on filters. I have sold all of these to buy more of the...

    Opinions please

IMO you are overstocked also, however to answer your question, I have both a Koran and a Grey, in seperate tanks. The Koran is beautiful and adds a lot of color. The Grey has a great pattern to it, but other fish in the tank needs color. The Grey is by far more active, even with lights out...

    stocking my 120gal

Ok, my 120 has 3 canister filters equalling 315 gallons rated. A 36 watt UV, a small protein skimmer for 100gal, and I have over 5 watts per gallon using T5's. Stock I already have: Blue throat trigger male 5" Koran Angel 5", never picked at anything, I have had him since he was a baby and keep...
