Just looked in your profile If you were thinking of adding a seahorse or two to your current 55G tank, I wouldn't recommend it. You have fish in there that would eat the seahorse(s) out of house and home and would probably stress them, too. I think it's time to start saving for another tank!!

    New Horses - Positive ID?

Haha, thank you so much, Suzy, for your replies! I went home on my lunch break and they were both doing well. I watched them for about five minutes and they appear to still be hunting pods, snicking at the rock and such, so I believe "all is well." I'm interested to read your Advanced Aquarist...

seahorse besides dwarfs for ten gallon

No worries, friend! Now you'll be able to do tons of reading about the seahorses you want and what kind of set-up they require, while you save money for the appropriate-sized tank and equipment! Trust me, it'll be worth it in the end.

    about you

Nick never uses this account, but since we are "Kanicky" (Katie & Nick) I'll introduce both of us! I am 21 years old. I work full-time as an Office Manager for CSD, a relay call center for the deaf, hard-of-hearing and speech impaired. I also go to college part-time and am majoring in English...

    New Horses - Positive ID?

Since this will be my second go-round with seahorses, I am hoping that I wil be able to enjoy these two for a long time. With that said, I would love some advice: 1.) I have a chiller on their tank, but since the weather has been pretty mild lately, without the chiller, the tank stays between...

    Symbiotic relationship??

Thank you for all of the replies I noticed while re-reading my initial post, that I neglected to add that this worm is in my seahorse tank. Can they hurt the seahorses and/or the fish? Should I try to remove it now? I should also add that when we took this picture, the Highfin Goby was not...

    Symbiotic relationship??

Okay, so I doubt a bristleworm and a Highfin Goby would have a symbiotic relationship, but check this picture out: I was sitting in front of the tank, feeding the fish, and right next to the Highfin, out comes this HUGE worm. I called for Nick and was like, "Get it out!!" What does he do...

    New Horses - Positive ID?

Yep, from our favorite LFS! I was amazed when I saw these two, because in the past, all our LFS has been able to get are the plain ol' "black seahorses," which is what we had previously... Nick knew how much I missed having seahorses, even though I wasn't sure I wanted to try again, so when he...

    New Horses - Positive ID?

Hi all- Imagine my surprise when I came home from work today to find that my wonderful boyfriend had gotten me two new seahorses (male-female) to replace the ones I lost! They are absolutely gorgeous, and I think the male may even be preggo! If you don't mind, I'd love to get a positive ID on them:

    tank mate

Eek, yeah, I agree, a lot of those fish shouldn't be put with seahorses. I'm surprised SeahorseDotOrg would make a list like that, because they tend to be Nazi's over there on what you can and can't put in a seahorse tank. In my seahorse tank, I have a Purple Firefish and two black False Percs...

    Actual Finding Nemo Scene

The Rainforest Cafe is in Orlando, Florida, right down the road from Disney World. An AMAZING restaurant with beautiful tanks throughout, although if a true aquarist had designed them, they would be slightly different (i.e., no bubbles... they do have powerheads throughout the tanks, though...

    catching a sixline...

Ours was going after a Mystery Wrasse we had just acquired and we thought "Hmm, a $20 fish versus a $170 fish... which one is staying and which one is going?" It was obviously not a hard choice! We had to dismantle our whole tank to get the slippery jerk. Took all of the other fish and LR out...

    Porcupine Puffer with large Tummy.

It's generally not good to feed the same food all the time. It's best if you switch it up, so they can meet all of their nutrition needs, not mention so that they don't get bored with what you're feeding them. How would you feel if all you were served every day was Beanies-N-Weenies? Any...

    What do puffers eat?

It's already been said that he may or may not eat your hermits/snails. It all depends on the temperment of the fish. That said, most puffers will munch on your "clean-up crew." I have both a Valentini and a Fiji Puffer and they like to mess with the hermits and snails every once in a while. I...
