    New 55 gallon

For a 55G, I'd suggest doing a Fuzzy Dwarf Lionfish, as a 55G is really a wee too small for a larger Lionfish, such as a Volitan. Ya'll could do a nice Aggressive Tank with smaller aggressive fish. Here are some of my recommendations: Fuzzy Dwarf Lionfish Valentini/Fiji Puffer Snowflake Eel...

    Black Clownfish

I think most of that advice is inaccurate, with the exception of having the LFS feed the fish before you buy it If clownfish didn't eat because they're scared because they're in a tank that's "too small," then they wouldn't eat at the fish store. Also, not sure what makes you think they...

They don't require high flow, can't be kept with corals, and certainly can't be kept with aggressive...

    Diving Great Barrier Reef

8-| Wow. I have always, always wanted to dive the Great Barrier Reef. It must be such an amazing experience... Maybe that's what I'll do on my honeymoon Curious, did you see a lot of sharks? How long do you usually stay under? I'd probably wish I could grow gills and fins and never emerge...

eel and two clowns in an aquapod??

    1. I don't believe a fish's growth can be stunted. A fish will continue to grow to its normal size or it will die trying. Small tanks restrict the normal development of muscles in a fish, which can lead to their death. 2. As it's already been recommended, an eel is not really suitable for an...

    mixing pipefish

They may fight for the first couple of days as they establish territory, but definitely keep your eye on them. If it gets bad, try re-arranging rockwork or take the new pipefish out.

    So what is it?

+1 The diatoms probably appeared because of your new lighting. To get the diatoms off your glass, you can get a MagFloat or scrape it off with an algae scraper. Curious, though... you say you've had your tank set up for a year? Did you experience an algae (diatom) bloom when you first set it...

Can I add a coral frag?

As an aside, don't trust your LFS to always test your water parameters. I'm sure they're being truthful, however, it's always best to rely on your own water tests. Salifert, Red Sea and Aquarium Pharmaceuticals have good test kits you can purchase. (Test Strips are not the way to go, as they...

    my girlfriends 3g pico (greeny_beanie)

Cute tank! I can't wait to get my Tom Deco 3G and start a Pico Reef for my desk at work! Looks like your girlfriend is off to a great start As far as the Scooter goes, with the tank being as small as it is, have you made a small fuge in the filter? Or is there a separate fuge that feeds the...

    Sick spotted puffer, please help

I'm so sorry to hear about your Puffer :( I adore the two I have and I don't know what I'd do if they died. I think it'd be a good idea for you to read some more on what to test for, because once you become accustomed to testing for the regular things such as pH, Ammonia, Nitrates and Nitrites...

    My shark/ray reef tank

Soooo jealous of you here! I think you have every fish I want in there! Especially with the Mimic Tang. I finally saw one in person the other week at my LFS and I wanted to badly to buy it. Congrats on one great tank!

Need help on final stock list for my 175 with pics

+1! I absolutely adore Moorish Idols. Probably the prettiest fish in the sea. I know that their diet in the wild is made up largely of sponge. There's a guy on -- that has kept one for quite a while and who suggests feeding often with foods that have sponge in it... Just as a helpful tip...

    Mean fish

+1 from above. Our snails don't really move until lights-out, when the two puffers are asleep. You'd think they were smart or something!
