You'll NEVER Believe What I saw Today!

No, because I went on Saturday and he gets his fish in on Tuesdays. A lot of his other fish were bought and sold, hence all of the empty tanks! So there is no excuse for him not providing more room for the little guys.

    Poor little guy.....

I have four damsels cycling my 55 gallon. Well the larger three have been picking on the smallest one. As a result, he has half a tail. They've bitten the fin down and he just has a little nub where his body begins. What should I do, I don't want him to die on me. I' ve been thinking about...

You'll NEVER Believe What I saw Today!

I went to one of the local lfs and I was horrified with what I saw. They had nine, I'll say that again, nine yellow tangs in a 15 gallon or less tank. I'm not talking juveniles either!! One of them was laying on the bottom, sick as can be, with cloudy eyes, they whole bit. :( They won't be...

    Whitish substance around gill!?!

Thanks Trey. What about quarantining only that one damsel with the infection. Bad idea?

    Whitish substance around gill!?!

I'm still in the cycling period and it seems that one of my damsels has a white cottony-type substance outlining his right gill. What do you guys think this is...I don't want it to spread...

    Substance in gill!?!?

One of my damsels has a whitish cottony looking substance outlining his right gill. He seems to breathing heavier than the others and doesn't look to be eating as much. What could this be...I don't want it to spread.

    Lighting from Home Depot!?!?

These responses here are why i love this board. Your' responses kept us from making a mistake, thanks. :D

    Lighting from Home Depot!?!?

Would flourescent lighting fixtures from Home Depot be just as effective as flourescent lighting fixtures in a light strip? We're thinking about making our own hood and don't want to spend $70 on a 48" light strip. The ones at Home Depot you can put two 48" bulbs in an $8 fixture. Any...

    Time for a new POLL?

Ooh, ooh, go aggressive!!! How about a giant squid!?!? Ha...just kidding. I agree, schooling fish would be impressive. Just like your own little ocean. But really, it'll end up being the fish you want anyways...so why ask us?? :D

    Distilled Water

Not distilled, but R/O water (water prepared by reverse osmosis). You can buy it at the local grocery store. My grocery store calls it purified water, but it says on the lable that it was prepared by reverse osmosis. Some lfs's also carry R/O water. I know mine does and it's cheaper than the...

    What can I do!?!

Thanks guys for the suggestions. I have a 55 gallon which is totally docile. I wanted to go a little more aggressive with my 80. So which tangs or triggers did you say would work in an 80? If not any, just tell me. I don't want to stress any fish out and end up killing them.

    What can I do!?!

Are there any really cool fish (cost not relevant) that I can put in an 80 gallon tank. I don't want teeny-eeny ones either. Any ideas!?! I mean, I just love tangs and triggers but I know that they require more "tankage"... Suggestions?

    On my way!

Oh yeah, and this isn't including a hood either. A hood on a 75 gallon will run you about $50 cheaper than the stand. What a rip huh!?!?!

    On my way!

Are you guys serious!?!?!? It is about $160 for a stand for a 75 gallon with umm...no floor or back in it. For a nice stand it's at least $400. A 125 gallon tank is approximately $300 cheapest. Welcome to Texas where everything isn't bigger, but more expensive!! lol...

    Cycling already!?!?

Don't worry, I'm not rushing. My tank has been set up with water only, filter, and powerheads for almost a month. I'm definitely not rushing. Plus, I've heard enough horror stories to know not to stock up on fish as soon as everything hits zero anyways. Believe me Liz, you're not warning me...

    Cycling already!?!?

I have a 55 gallon, Emperor 400, no protein skimmer. I just put 45 pounds of live rock in the tank and four damsels in yesterday. Today, I checked all my levels and my ammo was at 2.5,ph at 8.0, nitrite at .5, nitrates at at least 50, and salinity and temp is normal. Could I already be hitting...
