A 'RISKY' Investment but Nonetheless a Rescue Effort Underway

I guess I should just simply ask the question: Do skimmers remove meds such as Coppersafe? Yes, No or not sure??? I have heard that they do and do not remove coppersafe from the water. I just need some clarification. Thanks

A 'RISKY' Investment but Nonetheless a Rescue Effort Underway

Hello So I thought I would share with you a rescue mission I have accepted that has come with a relatively small price to pay. About a month ago, I was at my LFS to buy salt. Well of course I had to check out the new fish and see what they had. I can never just go inside and buy a dry good and...

GFO and Carbon and Macro Algae

I am thinking about running GFO and Carbon bec I always get some ugly green hair algae. My macro algae (sea lettuce and chaeto) are not doing enough. If I use this chemical filtration method, I assume it will kill my macro algaes in my sump. correct? I would need to remove my macro algae in my...

Animal Planet's "Tanked". 2nd season in April - To love or to hate???

Hello everyone I am pretty sure everyone here has either watched or heard of Animal Planet's new TV series "TANKED". I must say I was quite interested in the idea considering its a show consisting of unique aquarium builds but mostly artificial reef settings (ughhh gross). I myself found the...

Is this algae good for my sump, tank, critters???

LOL Man I have a 100g sump full of this stuff. Its freaking amazing. I thought chaeto was good but this stuff is insane. every time I gotta throw some away I always wished I could sell it or give it to someone who could use it. I have a manufacturing plant for sea lettuce. I have just never...

Is this algae good for my sump, tank, critters???

Hey guys and gals So I bought some Chaeto for my sump and several weeks later, I had a huge outbreak of what appears to be Sea Lettuce or Ulva rigida. It must have been within the chaeto I bought. Well this stuff is gowing like wildfire in my sump and I am constantly having to remove portions...

    I need help with algae

I have a 200 g bowfront reef and I perform 25% water changes on a weekly basis. I use two big 55g brute trash cans for these water changes (one for making seawater and the other for taking it out of the aquarium). When I start the water change, I fill one trash can up with aquarium water and...

Nori is a nutritious edible sea vegtable (weed). It is the same stuff they use to wrap your sushi in. My fish get nothing but nori, mysis, shrimp, squid, and occasionaly scallops. My fish are so bright with color its amazing. I must be doing something right. You can find nori at your local good...

    Mandarins and the QT

Hey guys and gals I am thinking of purchasing a pair of madarins. One quick question... I am one who uses a QT tank on all new tank additions. How should I approach adding Mandarins to my display tank without a QT. I am aware that Mandarins do not carry pathogens such as ich and velvet but...

Catching and shipping salt water fish (sharks ) from Fl to NYC

This seems like a really bad idea... Illegal A 95% probability that it would die in transit due to stress etc A 700g tank is like throwing a black tip in a fish bowl. Wayyyyyy tooooo small. Just dont do it bro. It sounds fun, cool and all but just not worth it no matter how you look at it.

    Luvmyreef's 180g Diary

Nice little skunk cleaner. I have two in my tank and they are quite big now. Right now they both are full of eggs. I wish there was some way I could collect them and have a bunch of babies. My skunks ride my achilles and powder blue tangs often for clean up duties.
