I'm not trying to hi jack here but my question is sorta related. Is there some kind of "rule" for how long you should have your tank established before getting a clam?

If you have larger crabs, especially ones that are outgrowing their shells, they might decide to attack the snails. But I would think the crab would have taken over the shells already if that was the case. How did you acclimate?

Does anyone know what brand this is? Or anything about them? Any info is greatly appreciated! TIA!

I definitely agree. The blue hermits we have tend to be mean to the snails. Once they decide they want a shell, there's no chance. We used to have a fairly even amount, now we have one small snail. They all got attacked by our blue hermits and jades.

Is it normal for them to stay completely closed up for several days??

We have two cleaner shrimp and 2 peppermint shrimp in the same tank and they seem to be getting along just fine. We also used to have 3 emeralds which got along well also.

Well, it was a part of the setup when we got it...so not sure how old it is. However, we also have other valves in the plumbing that could be shut off once the problem is noticed or if we're here and it fails. I guess we have to hope for the best on that one or make sure we test it sometimes.
