    best scrapper

I bought one because my mag only works on some algaes...it had a stainless steel blade and works great. It is the kent version, if there is any difference between them, and I am happy I spent the ten bucks or whatever it was.

    Cocoons in my tank?

I think I know what you are talking about...I have some on my lr. It is just some sort of sponge and is harmless as far as I've noticed. It actually looks pretty cool imo.

    pro heat won heaters

I have a 300 watt one that heats my entire 150+ gallon system. They put out some heat. My little probe does not work right and I have it at its lowest possible setting and it keeps things at 78.3 degrees. I would go for it, just make sure you have another way to moniter temp.

can you give anymore info? Are you new to this hobby? They could just be little pods. They are harmless. I have seen little white worms, about a half inch long, and they haven't caused any harm. They are just some sand critters that seem to keep to themselves. Give some more info and maybe...

    leather shedding question

I have a number of leathers in my 125 and I have read that some have a tank they move theirs to when they shed their slime coat. I have never done this--twice a week seems like a bit much to be moving a coral around--but I was wondering if anyone does? Has anyone ever had another coral killed...

    Buying first coral

Xenia are a type of soft coral. Easy to keep, pulse, eat up your nitrates, but grow very quickly and need to be trimmed like a macro. I would echo the above suggestion and get a book before buying any coral. I have, among others, Corals of the mini reef aquarium by Dr. Axelrod. It is a...

    Buying first coral

I would go with a colt or some mushrooms placed on your sand. They are great starters and easy to frag.

    Mortally wounded Colt?

I felt like a butcher when I fragged my colt and even lost a few cuttings, but all and all it did pretty well. Some of the smallest little pieces that floated around the tank have now anchored themselves and are growing. It will probably be fine.

    Hawai'ian Zebra Hermits

I get my coraline to spread by pointing a ph at a rock and scraping it off the glass. the zebras are cool hermits...but they don't live very long. I have just a few left and they are big and cool looking. I hope they are teaching myt bluelegs some humility, but I haven't ever seen it.

What type of rock is used for base rock?

Thomas convinced me to return the stuff I bought at my lfs and I did the hirocks thing...it was a great move. Really cool pieces and even after only three months some of it is tough to tell if it wasn't some of my original lr. Tufa can have the same problems as the lava rock. Metals can hang...

    Any Chicago Trader?

How big are those tangs? They both get pretty massive, especially the sailfin. They look like great fish, the ones I've seen, but I do not think my 125 is big enough. Are you keeping them in your 85? How long have you had them?
