    Maxijet magnetic cleaner mod

I found a thread a while back and bought some epoxy coated 60# magnets from Gaussboys. They are really strong and work great on my 75G. Some people had problems with them rusting in the tank, so I used superglue to glue the magnets to the bracket and then covered with lots of silicone (only...

    Octo NW-150 help

I have been having problems with my NW-150 protein skimmer since it was new about 1-month ago. When it was first installed it would not make bubbles and the pump sounded funny, so while I was troubleshooting I blew air into the air line and it started up. Now, every time I unplug it, I have to...

    Sure-Flow Upgrade Kit

I had the same experience as Veni. I have 2- 1200s in my 75 with Sureflow Kits. The white props (2100 gpm) were way too much and kicked up the substrate. I put the lower flow ones in and they work great. It still took a while to adjust even with the lower flow propellers.

    Koralia vs. Maxi Jet

I have 2 Maxi-Jet 1200s with Sure flow mods in my 75G. They work great and have a nice wide flow. You can pick up the powerhead and the mod for about $35. I dont have experience with the Koralia, but have heard great things about them. I have heard that the Maxis are better if you are going...

    Yellow watchman goby

Im starting the think the ammonia thing might be the problem. One of the clowns is acting weird. He has his gills flared and is breathing fairly fast. This clown was acclimated at the same time as the goby. Only three of the fish were introduced into the QT on Friday. The watchman, one...

    Yellow watchman goby

I used the drip method to acclimate (same as this site). Tank temp has been between 77-78F every time I have checked. There are no shrimp or crabs currently in this tank. Other fish currently in 40 gallon QT: 2 False Percula clowns 1 Jawfish 1 Royal Gramma 1 Very small Kole Tang

    Yellow watchman goby

I have read that these are fairly hardy fish. I purchased one from this site over 3-weeks ago and it died during acclimation. It was pretty small, so I didn't think much of it. (All the other fish & inverts were perfectly fine and are still good). So I placed another order late last week and...

    Sump Help

I have pretty much the same setup with a 29g sump under 75 DT and same configuration sump with skimmer chamber - return- fuge. The one difference is my overflow (PF-1000) is running two separate 1" hoses. One hose goes direct to the skimmer chamber and the other to the fuge. My baffles are the...

    Overflow help

No cracks in either of the tubes. The overflow will only keep one going at a time and it doesnt matter which one. I can maintain either of them going, but not both. Hope that makes sense.

    Overflow help

Yes the pump is located in the sump and the 3/4" flex goes back to the tank.

    Overflow help

Last weekend I setup a 29g sump / refugium under my 75g DT. I used a Eshopps PF-1000 overflow box and Quiet One 4000 return pump. The overflow is rated at 900 gph and the return pump is rated at approx 750 gph at 5' head. My problem is that only one of the J-tubes stays primed. I can start a...

    Powder Brown Tangs

If powder browns are tough to keep, then Im not as lousy of a fish owner as I thought. I figured they were practically indestructible. I had one in a 75 that is a submarine. He is currently in a 40 QT. Eats like a horse and cruises all day long. We are getting ready to move though, and I...

    Moving with Rubbermaids

I thought Id share a story of my stupidity. We purchased our 1st SW tank from a relative. (75 gallon) I have lots of FW experience so I knew that moving a tank of this size would be nearly an all day event (even though we only had to go 2 miles). To prepare for the move I bought (6) -10...

    Ich from inverts?

No unfortunately the screen was not installed. I think I must have knocked it off during the last water change. Stupid mistake. And of course it had to happen to one of my favorite fish. I am planning on trading in the tang (too big for my 75) and one of the angels (polyp nipper). I was...

    Ich from inverts?

So 5 weeks have gone by since I setup the QT. After daily water changes for the first 4-weeks, the QT is finally cycled. All the fish were doing well until yesterday. I came home to find my female clown stuck to the intake of my powerhead. She was still alive but barely. I immediately...

    Upgrade from 75 to 90

I got a quote from the LFS for a 75 gallon rr (AGA with megaflow). Their price is $355 + tax. Is this a decent deal? Seems a little high to me. From what Ive read I dont trust the HOB overflows. I dont want to flood my basement when I lose power.

    Upgrade from 75 to 90

Thanks. I didnt think about the lighting issue. I guess I will be looking at a 75. I already have a brand new 75, but it does not have an overflow. How hard is it to drill holes for an overflow?
