Just a few pics of my reef

Sweet! We have a older Sony cybershot. It's OK, but I would like an upgrade. I think the day after I bought it, it was obsolete. Kinda like PC's used to be.

    What is the best tang

This is more like the "neighborhood watch" than the "tang police".

    What is the best tang

I saw a powder brown in a 55 in a LFS swimming from one end to the other VERY quickly. I don't know what stressed it out, but it would surely have benefited from more linear swimming area. THe blue hippo can get to 12" or so. WOW! That is a big fish. I think the full grown yellow would be...

    care of yellow polyps

OUrs are doing well. THey are spreading also. They are in moderate to high flow and in the top of our tank. We have over 300watts of light on our 75.

Looks like a real ZOO at your house, Bronc. Not to hijack, either, but do you add iodine for your xenia?

    What is the best tang

Oh my goodness, you have CLAMS too? THat's pretty cool! . . .J/K I think a younger/smaller tang would be OK. THe 5 foot rule was for adult/larger tangs. Maybe? I'm not sure. . . :notsure: It may be a preference, too. OUr yellow is around 2.5 to 3" long in our 75. (We don't have...

    What is the best tang

I've got one of those yellow tangs in a 75. He is pretty new but seems to be doing well. The thing about tangs is the linear swimming space. THe larger tangs need 5 feet or so of tank which is 100 gallon or so. I'm holding out for the 240 (8feet long!) before I get a BIG tang-powder blue or...

    Would anyone pay for this?

Maybe you could coax a mushroom or something onto it to cover it. THEN, you could trade it to the LFS for $$. WOuld you be surprised to buy a coral and find it attatched to THAT??!!??

    dream tank!!!

I'm not much of a "tree-hugger", but I think 5 billion would go a long way to preserving some of the reefs we have. How about a contest to discover the best way of preserving/propogating the great barrier reef. The winner gets 10% of the money and rest goes to fund the venture. (And maybe a...

What do you put in your sump?

It sounded from your first post that you were getting started. That looks like you are well under way! Nice rock work, Fishy! Can you see both sides of your tank? That is always nice. ***) Yup, the biggest problem with a fuge, for me, is the size it has to be. There are some really neat...

I really like the purple/blue shrooms!! J/K everything looks great, Bronco. OUr Xenia is spreading now as well. It is still one big stalk, but it is on 2 different pieces of rock. Keep up the good work.

What do you put in your sump?

Hey Fishy! 30 gallon is not going to do much for your 215 as a fuge. You could ADD another tank for a fuge and keep the 30 for the sump only. I think the number recommended for a fuge is 30 to 50% of the main tank volume. Does this help? WOW a 215! Let see some pics when ya get it going. :joy:

    Did we mess up already??

I see Wax beat me to it! LIVE rock will have the same bacteria and will do the same thing to your dead, aragonite sand. Wait for your tank to cycle before putting any critters in there. THere is no need to cycle with fish. Your live rock will probably have some die off and start the cycle...

    Did we mess up already??

Aragonite first, then sprinkle a lyer of LIVE sand all over it. This will "seed" the dead sand, and in no time, it should all have the beneficial bacteria that make our home aquariums possible. :joy: I agree to put the rock on the glass first for stability. In my case, we have around 3-4" of...
