Are you using RO/DI water or regular tap for your water changes? Tap, depending on the make-up of your local water, can cause diatom blooms. Also, it is beneficial to have sand sifters and adequate current throughout the tank. Spinner

Depending on what light you are going from, I;d add no more than 30 minutes per week until you get to your desired photoperiod. Much less stress on corals, etc. FWIW Spinner
