    FIRE in my tank

How big is your tank? What type of lighting? Heater? Shoot for 78-80 degrees You may buy a "shop" light or 2 (under $10.00 each) and some normal output flourescents from your lfs to carry you through.

    Best Birthday Present Ever

"Sit down and shut up" I was thinking of them at the pre-teen and up range. Your son is just practicing. You need another to keep the first occupied so you have some FREE time(yeah right)! NOTE: Children can be used against themselves. Also Note Cowfish (For future reference): Children can...

Enjoy that baby as they are sooooo sweet then things change at about 10 yrs old. :notsure: my oldest is killing me.. I feel your pain. When they are little, you want them to walk and talk. THEN you want them to sit down and shut up! Hey Filter, Is that a Lap dog or a couch dog? Yeah...

I'm sorry to hear that. Check levels every couple of days. Whenever nitrites and amonia return to 0, it's safe to restock. Good luck.

You guys could move to the beach and just sorta claim The ocean as your own personal aquarium. Just think, you would not have to add anything! NO skimming-NO filters-NO testing-NO power bill. Just look and enjoy. . .(i don't know haw many 000's that is though)

Test water-do a 25-30%water change if needed. I agree: you may have another spike from the stirring of the substrate. (The tank has already cycled once, yes?) Good luck!

I just missed your last post. Daughter may have stirred sediment and caused an increase in nitrites/amonia? Check parameters. Sand shouldn't hurt fishes. A comprimise to stopping all pumps/filters may be to run only one for a while (like while you clean the others) I still think you could...

Yeah, Don't leave them off for days. A couple of hours should help. I was thinking of the effect of sand on your pumps. First consideration should be animals, though. Thanks for the correction BRONCO.

clean up crew is in the house!

Lisa, SWF may give you a credit on your next order. May not be worth it if you have to ship them the carcass. The CBS will love some flake in addition to what he scavenges for. ALSO, watch your CBS for that cool-slow motion-flip upside down-Matrix move! THey are AWSOME! Congratulations!

    Is my VHO ballast working?

A 60 watt incandesent will burn in a 40 watt appliance socket--for a while. I once bought a 48" flourecent shop light to run my new 40 watt bulbs. It worked great for a couple of days then the fixture failed. I read the fine print to discover the fixture was only rated for 2 34 watt bulbs...

    Squidd.......Teach me.....DYI:Plumbing 101 on a SW Tank

The next victim . . er I mean willing participant . . is in good hands. I've learned a boat load of info from this thread! I have even quized my children about pizza sizes. Which has more? 2-10 inch pizzas or 1-15 inch? (Flow rates from 2-1 inch lines to 1-1.5 inch line) They got it right but...
