Is it a good idea to put live rock or sand in my bottom tank with my proteen skimmer

Beeing fairly new to this great hobby I had someone tell me to come over to there house and they will break off a coral frag for me. How is this done without killing the corals.

What do they mean by "reef ready" ? If that means that all you have to do is add sw and coral then that was a great price! But you need to know what that includes. Do you know what reef ready means?

I have lots of time, and tools. But I am having a hard time finding a place to educate myself on this kind of project. I Have a 110 gallon reef tank already and I am finding out that its not big enough for my new hobby. I read about the 1,650 gallon tank and that looked very interesting.
