    Skimmer recall????

Throught recent experiences and by reading posts it seems to me that the company knows how delicate these pumps are and wouldn't hessitate to replace any damaged goods. I too have the Berlin Turbo Classic skimmer and had to send for a new impeller. If anyone has any trouble with the pumps the...

    phosphates and nitrates high

Kris I thought it was just me. I have the same test kit and I haven't seen it go past .2 yet. As for the phosphate, I used Seachem PhosGaurd it took me from 1.0 to .2 in one recommmened dosage. You should try to find out where the source of the phosphate before you start using spounges.

    No water changes?

Most people with stable tanks do less w/c less often than others.

everytime I do a water change!!!!

Since I don't have any fish it shouldn't be a problem. I thought that high nitrate levels aren't toxic? I know that anything that is too high would have an effect but is it notoxic or not?

    reef skimmer

I think your skimmer is just working harder since the wet/dry filter is gone. Is it filling up with wet suds or just caked up with funky crud? Because if it's a wet foam your getting your pump is too high. Then again you probally already know that.

I am getting brown algae again, Why?

You should buy a phosphate test kit b/c more than likly it's that. If in fact that it is that Seachem Phosguard worked great for me I had this same problem it went from 1.0ppm to .2ppm in one dosage. Do you have a clean up crew? Snail will help keep the algea under control.

everytime I do a water change!!!!

Thanks, Baron I totally agree with you. I'm going to start doing smaller w/c more often. The filter I use is a tap water filter by Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Inc. There are no nitrates in the water b/c I test the water regularly. I've been having this problem for some time now and I'm very...

Good question cre I have a 125 gallon tank with just to 36inch fixtures with one 50/50 bulb in each of them. I know I need more b/c they are just 30w each. What do you guys suggest for me? It's fowlr. I want my l/r to thrive.

everytime I do a water change!!!!

I'm changing 30 gallons every month not every week. The reason I change so much and should change more, is because I'm reducing my nitrates. Ther is no debris at the bottom of my filter.

everytime I do a water change!!!!

I think we're getting off the topic. My original post was not about my nitrates it was about the inverts not surviving my water changes. I know nitrates aren't the problem in that situation. I have a pretty good idea on where my nitrats are coming from so thanks for the info you guys are...

    FISH TANK

Lion fish aren't aggressive swimmers,so they don't need as much space as the puffers do. I would have to say 200 to 250 would be cool.

    Porcupine Dog Face

No two puffers are compatible. There should never be more than one puffer in a set up. That's the written rule. Of course I've seen it done and you'll come to find out in this hobby it's a trail and error kind of thing. You have to know your fish, how aggressive it is how territorial he is...

everytime I do a water change!!!!

The water I use is nitrate free and for filteration I have 60lbs of l/r and 3 inches of l/s. I also have a Amirical wet/dry minus the bio balls. It's been three days and I'm still seeing little to no movement out of my inverts(green brittle star, fighting couch, and 10 Mex. trochus). What...

everytime I do a water change!!!!

I don't no why my nitrates are so high I don't have a huge bio load there are no fish. I have great water movement, and I'm not using tap water. I know I don't have enough l/r or a deep enough sand bed (55lbs l/r, 3 inch sand bed), which I'm currently working on. You don't think that could be...

I'm so confused Please help !!!!

If it's possible go to a third party and get it tested and that would break the tie. If everything is ok than you don't have anything to worry about. Instead of wasting time and money go get your water tested from another source other than your main lfs and yourself.

everytime I do a water change!!!!

I didn't want to make too long of a post the first time so I didn't mention my past misstakes. As I mentioned in the first post, there are no fish in the tank so I'm not feeding at all. I use water from a tap water filter. I've been dealing with the nitrate thing for some time now and don't...

everytime I do a water change!!!!

Salinity was a the same level. No copper. It's been over 24hrs. and I just topped off my water and I had a look at the inverts. The fighting couch has moved a little and the Mex. turbo's are not moving but I still see a little life. The brittle star is moving a little more. I haven't had...
