It's not unusual for fish not to eat or to act shy when being introduced to a new enviroment. Keep an eye on him and water parameters. Give him couple days before you worry.

It's pretty new, only about a few mos. mature.

IMO i would never use an insect bomb around a tank! I know from experience! We set off a couple to get rid of spiders in a seperate room from the tank w/ the doors closed and a towl over the tank. I had several inverts die! Discouraged me somuch i took down the tank and put it in storage...

How do you know if you have dead spots? Also i have live sand in my tank and it has turned brown in some areas. What is that? Also it doesnt appear when i first turn on the light but after a while you can see it clear as day!:confused:

I know what its like not being able to have what you want due to tank capacity is like! It sucks.:D

if it is dead it will be dark brown if not black and slimy.

Sorry Oregonbud, I didnt mean to get into it with you. I am responsible for posting the url in three forums. I do not work for them i was only trying to share something that i thought was very neat! I wont do that anymore thanks to critical people like you!

i was thinking about my hermits when i thought about the seaweed. But your right the shrimp would starve on a seaweed diet.
