    Fish in Jeopardy?

OK. I have a 55g with only a Bangaii Cardinal. For the past year I have had little trouble with my tank--always perfect readings. For V-Day my wife bought me a Honeycomb puffer. After he was in the tank for a few days my Ammonia is approximately .25 (I use the Red Sea Marine Lab kit). Other...

    Help with Identifying something

Sammy---that's them. Any idea where they popped up from. I mean I knew that flora could be dormant in live rock, but bristle worms. Honestly, no new rock has been introduced into the tank for over a year. Have they always been there and only recently become large enough to notice?

    Help with Identifying something

I have found red creatures squirming around my live rock. They look like centipedes. They are very small and I have found about 1/2 a dozen. I have had the same live rock for two years and no new fish for a year. Just wondering what they are, where they could've popped up from and if I should...

    Tests

Just wondering what everyone/anyone thinks are the best & most accurate test kits. I have been using red sea up until now. I haven't had any problems, but I find their whole testing procedure quite laborious and time consuming. Thanks for input, P77

How do I feed fish frozen brine?

I do not understand how soaking it in water will kill the vitamins. It is not being steamed or boiled---a process that will destroy the essential nutrients.

    Moving

Does anyone have stories or reccomendations about how to safely move your tank. My "fish room" is now becoming the "baby room" so I am moving rooms, not homes. I have a 55g, lr, cc. 2 fish and a handful of hermits.

    Buying fish

I go to 2 lfs and they both offer guarantees. One of them gives you up to 15 days.

How do I feed fish frozen brine?

I thought he BlackDog was just making fun of "the block" reference by Mr. Tang...anyway, I had always thawed it (since I am assuming fish do not generally eat frozen fish in the sea) but I have seen people just plop them in and let the warm water and current fo the work. Both ways resulted well.

    Waves

Any thoughts on the wave makers and how fish who have not been subjected to them since they were in the ocean will react. I have two fish in my tank who've been there for three years w/o waves.

    Buying fish

I have never bought online, so my view is not totally reliable, but I tend to agree with Trojan. I need to see the fish to feel comfortable about it. No disrespect to swf.com, the site is great and I am sure I will purchase dry goods in the future, but livestock? Maybe snails, crabs or something...

    answers & opinions welcomed

I have a fowlr and no skimmer too. Though I think it also depends on the type of fish and the # of fish. As well as if you have any cleaner animals in your tank. I never have many fish at once in my tank, I suppose I would consider one if I had more.

    Banggai Cardinals

I have a single bangaii in my tank. He is great. They do not move much, but their movements are so deliberate that they are actually cooler to watch then, say, a trigger, that just darts back and forth. A group is even neater b/c they'll move in sync together. He has been in my tank for 3 years...

    Horseshoe Crabs

They are cool. One I bought died right away, but the other one lived for about 6 months. It is actually a funny story. After about 4 months I was out of town and my wife called and said the horseshoe crab died. So, quite awhile later she goes in to look at the tank and there's a horseshoe crab...

    Salt accumulation

I have one of those plastic strips on the back that I cut in areas to make room for on tank attachments. That is where most of the problems arise from. I was just wondering if anyone has used something creative & safe to seal those areas as well. I have tried to patch the open areas, (mainly...

    Salt accumulation

Was just wondering if anyone had some ideas or ways they manage to keep salt from forming on their tank to a minimum. I guess in the dry air here my tank gives up water quickly and I am constantly cleaning salt off the top of the tank. I have tried some things, put none of them are attractive or...

No, they are not all the same size. They vary from about 2 to 4 inches in length.

    Live rock

Thanks for your interest. They all project from one central location. I would have to say it is white. Though it has a certain opaqueness to it if that is even a word. There is like one mass blob of the white stuff attched to the rock with four or five twisted and curled branches projecting...

    Horseshoe Crabs

I have had two die on me over the years. Are they not a hardy crab or am I just experiencing some bad luck? I have not had one in some time, but they are indigenous to my boyhood home in NJ and I like to have them for nostalgias sake. Any suggestions/input? Thanks
