    Sump or Wetdry

Well, I really need to get rid of that Magnum 350. That seems to be the main culprit on high nitrates + I am tired of having to clean and change the media weekly. It gets very timely and costly to do so. I currently have 4 powerheads in the tank as it stands now. 1 Hagen 802, 2 Hagen 402, and a...

    Sump or Wetdry

I have read a few post regarding to the above one being better or one being a nitrate factory. For a 55 gallon reef with some fish, already have a back pak2 skimmer and a magnum 350 (which is what i want to replace with the wet dry/sump) which one would do the best. I am looking at the Amiracle...

Do I need wavemaker? Is it a good thing??

be carefull of the kind of pumps/powerheads that you use for this.. rio's and the like are loud and are not made for the routine off and on of a "wavemaker" system. So research your pums..

need info on CSL 96w PC retro smartlites

I bought two of them for my 55 gal 48" standard tank. They are awsome. I know where you got 'em, (PW). They have some great prices. I have them about 3 inches above my glass top mounted in my canopy. In fact, I may get one more. Right now they are the 50/50 bulbs and I have a torch coral, long...

    lights ok or not?

I have a standard 55 gal (48x13x2?) tank. I currently have 2 96w power compacts = 192w. This = about 3.5 watts per gallon. Is this sufficient light for both hard corals and pacific anemones (mainly bubble tip and carpet and the like)? Thanks all.

    Another Prism question

I have only seen pictures of the prism but a lot of people swear by it. my only question is the collection cup and emptying it. it lloks like you need to completely turn the skimmer off, remove the whole thing from your tank to empty it. Is this correct or does the collection cup come off and...

I have just installed a sump with a CPR CS50 overflow and a rio2100 return pump on a 55 gallon fish/reef tank. it took the place of a magnum 350 canister filter. The canister is great except when you need to do a water change and clean it. I did install a skimmer in the sump as well. Tell me, i...
