I also had an algae problem and got an urchin from SWF and it was one of the best things I did (along with ro weekly water changes, phosguard and scrubbing with a tooth brush). The urchin really was like a lawn mower!

What kind of gunk? Algae? Is there a lot in the tank too? My best guess would be to NOT get rid ofthem. They have your valuable bacteria established on htem already. Do a water change and in the old water give them a good shake in it to clean them off. Add new water and cleaner wheels and...

we have one condi too, its been with us for 4 years now. we feed it a good half inch piece of shrimp about once a month and then it gets pellets (our fish food) that fall into it every day. We also feed our fish mysis shrimp almost every other day. The anemone gets that too. the darn thing...

ok - so i did some research on the vermetid snails. let me know if i am off base. they secrete a mucus like substance to "catch" food - then reel it in to feed? they are not harmless. they may help to filter water. came in as hitchhikers on the live rock. hmmm... that mucus stuff sure looks...
