    Dying Zoos... Ick on Zoos?

Thanks Petjunkie. I am a really new to reef tanks so I am learning each day. Thanks for pointing out that yellow polyps are not zoanthids. Nano REefer- I would still check your "green zoo rock" for white spots or nudis. Hopefully someone will have some additional ideas for you.

    Dying Zoos... Ick on Zoos?

White spots on zoos may indicate zoo pox. I had a similar problem and I lost a colony to what I thought was zoo pox. I dipped all of my zoos in lugols but I still lost one colony. As soon as I threw it out all of the frags seemed to open up more. You can check out the zoaid site to get a picture...

Need suggestion for xmas present !!

Does he have a refractometer? That is what I got my BF for Christmas. It is used for measuring salt and costs about $50. It is much more accurate than a hydrometer. The clear plastic is the hydrometer and the tube thingy is the refractometer. If you want a place to order it online just pm me.

    New tankers

I am a newbie too, but I have learned so much by coming to this board and reading for hours. You have to first decide what type of tank you want to have- fish only or do you want to have corals, an anemone, clams as well. The type of tank determines what type of lighting you need.

Is a Blue Hippo Tang to large to keep?

Yes, unfortunately your tank is too small for a blue hippo. I wanted one too, but I only have a 55 gallon which it too small as well.

I had some zoas that were not looking very good last week. I took out the frag, turned it upside down in a tupperware container of my tank water, and shook it. Out he popped- Darn Banana Back looking Devil. About 2 days later the zoos look 100% better. Now it looks like I have zoo pox on a large...

    Powerhead sucked up zoo

About 2 weeks ago we bought a colony of zoos. Last night about 20 polyps were sucked up to the powerhead. What should we do? We tugged on them slightly but they won't come out. Would it be possible to frag them? I am new to saltwater and would appreciate any help. Is it destroying my tank as I...
