    Geo 612 Reactor

I just set up a Geo 612 and I'm having a heck of a time trying to get it "dialed in". I'm using a pH computer and a solenoid. I've read a ton of info over the past few days but still seem to be having troubles. My alkalinity keeps going up. It was suggested that I should increase my effluent...

    I Need Snails

Theresa, I can get you some nassarius snails for nothing if you want to pick them up. You will still need to add some other species as Nassarius are pretty much scavengers and won't do much about your algae.. email me at premnusb@earthlink.net I live in Ft. myers.

    can anyone answer this ?

Yes the "dead" rock will become live again. That is to say that, over time, bacteria will recolonize, and if you put it in with some good quality live rock and keep your chemistry and lighting up to standards, you should get plenty of coraline algae. I put some clean bare base rock in my reef...

    Snail I.D. please

Can anyone positively identify this snail? It was found in a tidal pool on a mudflat in southwest florida. I would like to add it to my tank but would like a positive I.D. first. Any help is appreciated. Thank you

    Question about lights. Eclipse woes.

I had an Eclipse. You can buy replacement bulbs still only 30 watts but at least you'll have better spectrum. I also added a retro which upped wattage another thirty two or something but it wasn't worth it in the long run. I'd look around for a halide pendant. The retro is gonna run you $40-$50...

    xenia

Xenia, if kept under the right conditions, is one of the easiest corals to propogate. It can be fragged or if you have a healthy colony just place some rubble near by and before long the Xenia will begin to spread. You can research more at garf's website or even just do a web search for fragging...

    Tangs

I have a 200 and in it I have a Naso, a Red Sea Sailfin, a Hippo ( blue ), and a Powder Brown. Let's remember that each system is different and if you're an experienced hobbyist, can provide optimum conditions, and use the proper QT techniques more is possible. That said I would not attempt to...

    DESPERATE for an answer......

Ph 8.6 is also pretty high. In my experience over 8.4 is bad news....May be a result of hard water.

    DESPERATE for an answer......

When you switched tanks did you use the sand from the old tank? I have heard that if you disrupt an established sand bed it can leach harmful substances and may even have to re-cycle. Although your parameters don't hint of another cycle.

    Magnesium

When my tank finished it's cycle, about a year and a half ago, I tested the Mg and it was very low. So, I dosed with natureef's Mg up. I followed their recommended dosing quantity per gallon and when I tested, after one dose, it was too high. Don't know what got mixed up there but I've done...

    Magnesium

Can anyone tell me of a way that I can lower the Mg level in my reef. I've been having trouble keeping Ph up and all I can figure is that my Mg level is too high. I've performed water changes but they don't seem to affect it much. Right now my Alkalinity is about 6 Ph 8.23 Calcium 380 and Mg...

    Tang Compatibility

I have four tangs in my 200 but they are all different families. They squabble a bit here and there but are, for the most part, peaceful. I have read conflicting opinions about keeping tangs of the same species / family and personally never had the cojones to try it. If you go to this adress...

    angel guestion

I currently have a 200 gallon reef. I have a small eblii angel in it which is doing great. I have the opportunity to get a centropyge aurantius at an excellent price. The golden is a beautiful fish but I'm concerned that the two, both being centropyge species, will fight. Is the 200 big enough...

    Skimmer for sale

I have an MAV reef downdraft skimmer for sale. Like new. I used it for about six months but it's just too big for my space.
